Las Vegas, Football, Baseball & Playmates
As I write this prepping to fly home from Vegas, I'm thinking about the nice weekend I had. I did my radio show from UNLV Friday night. After that I hung out with a Playboy Playmate (more about that below) and had the proverbial 5 AM meal (waffles). A solid Saturday was the follow up, one filled with fantasy football drafts, a couple of meals, an event mixer (thanks RotoGrinders.com), then some time at the Toby Keith restaurant (I know you wish you were me). Sunday was filled with watching football before we painted the town Sunday night. Twas a good time. A special thanks to FantasyAlarm.com for all of the good and for doing everything they can to make me look good. Appreciate it fellas.
Now on to the baseball.
Yovani Gallardo tossed seven innings of one run ball Sunday. That's five earned runs over his last five starts as he's coming on like a champ as the season draws to a close. He's dropped his ERA down to 4.18 with the run of excellence.
Greg Holland reached a milestone Sunday with his 40th save of the year for the Royals (he's only blown three chances). On the campaign the flame thrower has a whopping 89 punchouts in just 58 innings, has a 1.40 ERA an a 0.86 WHIP. You remember back when you were considering dropping him when he started the year off slowly? Admit it – you almost let him go, didn't you?
Speaking of slow starters... did you notice that Holland's teammate, Eric Hosmer, pushed his average over .300 on Sunday with an 11th game in 12 with a hit (he had three hits including his 15th home run)?
It's not often you get a chance to meet a Playboy Playmate. It's even rarer when you get to hang out with one. When the beauty is also as down to earth as your lifelong best friend... well then you've really got a special lady. Hello Pilar Lastra.
Mariano Rivera has 41 saves but he's also blown seven chances in his last big league season (he has a blown save in each of his last two outings. His ERA still rocks at 2.28 but the seven blown saves is a career-worst mark.
Sunday Danny Salazar struck out eight while allowing one run. He was also removed at 80 pitches which meant that Salazar recorded a total of 12 outs. I get protecting a young guy an all, but if you're going to limit a guy's workload so severely it's fair to question why the Indians are even bothering starting him.

Ray has spent years squirreled away studying the inner workings of the fantasy game to the detriment of his personal life. Specializing in baseball, football and hockey, some consider him an expert in all three.
