There are six teams on bye this week, so the quarterback pool thins out in a rather large way this week. Here are the following quarterbacks on bye this week: Joe Flacco, Case Keenum (damn!), Ryan Tannehill, Eli Manning, Landry Jones and Colin Kaepernick. While it may not be an attractive group, it’s six signal callers that we can’t play this week. Well, we can play them, but you’re an idiot if one of those quarterbacks is in your starting lineup. Rostering one of the five guys below is a great well to feel safe at the quarterback position in this eighth week of the NFL season.

Here are the Top 5 Quarterbacks for NFL Week 8.

Tom Brady @ BUF

Brady is as elite, as consistent and as precise as they come. The Bills have been pretty good against opposing quarterbacks, but come on, it’s Tom freakin’ Brady! He’s averaging just over 24 fantasy points per contest to go along with his sparkling 8:0 TD/INT ratio. QB1 across the board.

Matt Ryan vs. GB

Ryan has thrown just four interceptions this season, while firing 16 touchdowns through seven contests. Green Bay’s run defense is smothering, so for Atlanta to move the ball this week, it’s going to weigh on the shoulders of the Atlanta passing attack. The Packers are dealing with quite a few injuries in the secondary, which makes Ryan, the top fantasy quarterback to date, a top play this week.

Aaron Rodgers @ ATL

The Green Bay running game is interesting to say the least, which has forced Rodgers to throw the ball a ton lately. In fact, his recent three-game stretch is the most he’s ever thrown in a three-game stretch in his career. The sooner it comes out of his hand the better and Atlanta will help Rodgers’ numbers even more this week. Atlanta has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks to date.

Cam Newton vs. ARI

The Cardinals are a tough defense and newton hasn’t been very good this season. He also hasn’t been running as much of late, likely due to the concussion. However, he still does have three rushing touchdowns and eight passing touchdowns. The Cardinals have faced a rather light quarterback schedule to date, but Newton is a different breed. The bye week should help him get healthier as well.

Andrew Luck vs. KC

Luck is the second-highest scoring quarterback this season and he’s only had one dud, which came back in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos. He’s fired two or more touchdowns in three of his last four games, despite playing behind a terrible offensive line. The Kansas City pass rush has been anemic this season, so Luck may have some extra time to deliver the football this week.
