2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: The Royals had an absolutely atrocious bullpen last season and there doesn't seem to be a lot of help available in the minor leagues. Right-hander James McArthur is one possible bright spot though. After being optioned to Omaha four times last summer McArthur was recalled to the big club on September 1st, and he didn’t allow another run for the rest of the season. 

2024 Outlook: McArthur had 12 appearances in September and October from that point and over 16.1 innings he had a 10.47 K/9 and a 0.93 FIP to go along with the 0.00 ERA and 0 home runs allowed. Even better-McArthur didn’t give up a single walk. He ended the season as the Royals’ closer, accruing four saves and in a bullpen full of massive questions James McArthur may get first crack at the Royals closers role in 2024.
