We are in the midst of the fantasy playoffs now as we head into Week 15.  It is only fitting that critical players show up on the injury report to add to the chaos and drama of the fantasy postseason.  So without further ado, here is the next edition of the fantasy football walking wounded.

Julio Jones (WR-ATL)

Jones was inactive this past week against the Rams and it turns out it didn’t matter for Atlanta.  However, that is not the case for fantasy owners who suffered a huge loss without him in their lineups for Week 14.  Jones will not practice again on Wednesday as he continues dealing with turf toe and his status for Week 15 is in jeopardy as well.  Follow up later in the week for another update but start preparing yourself for an alternative because the Falcons should have no problem disposing of the 49ers whether Jones plays or not.

A.J. Green (WR-CIN)

Green is supposed to return to practice on Wednesday which is great news for fantast GMs who have been without him for several weeks.  The Bengals are not going anywhere this year so they won’t rush Green back unnecessarily.  However, he is itching to play and will have a few days at practice to show whether he is healthy enough to get back on the field.  You will have to wait until the weekend to know whether or not he can be plugged back into your lineup.

Aaron Rodgers (QB-GB)

Rodgers is dealing with both a hamstring and calf injury but should be just fine to play in Week 15.  Packers coach Mike McCarthy made it a point to say that he was comfortable with Rodgers playing as long as he can reset his feet.  This is good news for fantasy owners who should be salivating at Green Bay’s matchup against the Bears this week.  The former MVP has come on strong over the last several weeks bringing the Packers back into the playoff mix and has accumulated 3,529 yards passing and 32 touchdowns thrown.

Melvin Gordon (RB-SD)

Fantasy GMs got some devastating news when Gordon was knocked out of this past week’s game against Carolina with a hip injury.  It has also been revealed that Gordon is also dealing with a knee injury as well.  It doesn’t look good that he will play in Week 15, so GMs must call an audible and be creative because it will be very difficult to replace his production of 997 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns.

Donte Moncrief (WR-IND)

Moncrief was forced out of Sunday’s game against Houston with an aggravation of his hamstring injury and is now considered day-to-day.  He had been on a hot streak catching touchdowns so the injury comes at a bad time for fantasy GMs who were getting value out of him as a WR3 or Flex option.  Check back for updates later in the week but for now it seems unlikely that he can be relied upon to take the field for Week 15.

Matthew Stafford (QB-DET)

Stafford suffered a finger injury this past week and will have to keep two of his fingers taped together when the Lions face off against the Giants on Sunday.  He had to wear a glove above the taped fingers to finish out last week’s game, but there is still concern about how well he will be able to grip and throw the ball whether he wears the glove again or not.  The Giants defense just shut down the Cowboys on Sunday night so they will present a significant challenge for a less than 100% MVP candidate in Stafford.

Ryan Tannehill (QB-MIA)

The Dolphins have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this year fighting for a playoff berth in the AFC.  However, their fortunes took a big hit on Sunday when Ryan Tannehill sustained a sprained ACL and MCL which will likely cost him the rest of the season.  It isn’t clear whether he will need surgery or not, but he can be dropped in all fantasy leagues.  He will finish the year with 2,995 yards passing and 19 touchdowns which are not spectacular statistics but good enough to be rostered as a backup QB.  Matt Moore will take over which does not bode well for Jarvis Landry owners.

Michael Thomas (WR-NO)

Fantasy owners were burned last week when the Saints declared Thomas inactive for their game against Tampa Bay due to a foot injury.  The rookie has been a valuable asset all year with 831 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.  With all the extra rest he had from missing the game, he should be good to go for Week 15.

Shane Vereen (RB-NYG)

After missing nine games with a triceps injury, Vereen returned to the field on Sunday night against Dallas and went right back to the sidelines.  He was taken out of the game after making his first catch and suffering a concussion.  His status for this week against Detroit is up in the air now, so follow up for further updates later in the week.  He is only valuable in PPR leagues and would be a viable RB2 or Flex if he clears the concussion protocol.

Derrick Johnson (LB-KC)

Johnson suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon and is done for the season.  It was a non-contact injury last Thursday night against Oakland and he knew the extent of the injury as soon as he went down to the ground.  Johnson is the heart of Kansas City’s solid defense and is a great IDP option due to all the tackles he accumulates.  His career is now in jeopardy at his age and he can be dropped in all league formats.
