DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Make sure you don't overlook our impressive selection of 4 games, showcasing top-notch players in advantageous matchups. While you can't resist the likes of Nathan MacKinnon and Kyle Connor, there are also incredible value options worth considering.

Goalies play a vital role in determining our lineups, so make your choices wisely. Whether you decide to go for a high-end goalie or a more affordable one, keep in mind that goalies can be quite unpredictable.

NHL DFS Lineups: Best Goalies To Use

Igor Shesterkin, G, New York Rangers

There is no question that Igor Shesterkin is in a class of his own tonight. He has the best matchup on paper by a country mile and he is in a very good spot to pick up a win. The Capitals don’t generate a ton of scoring chances, so his floor is low, but if you’re chasing the win, this is the route to take.

Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers are an elite hockey team and Sergei Bobrovsky is a big part of that. Tampa Bay managed just 19 shots on goal last game, which is just not very good. They have a dangerous lineup, but the Panthers are just that good defensively. I think Tampa does a little better tonight, but they are still below average on the road.

Connor Hellebuyck, G, Winnipeg Jets

I know both teams combined to score 13 goals last game, but we won’t see a repeat of that. Despite giving up six goals, Connor Hellebuyck made 40 saves and still managed to hit value. I have no idea why the Avalanche are favorites in this game considering they are average on the road and Alexandar Georgiev can’t stop a beach ball. He’s going to face a ton of rubber again and that puts him in line for another night where he hits value.

Casey DeSmith, G, Vancouver Canucks

News broke that Thatcher Demko won’t be in goal tonight and he is in danger of missing the entire series. Casey DeSmith is now tasked with having to become the guy in goal. He wasn’t elite this season, but he was slightly better on home ice. His .895 SV% on the season is concerning, but I think the Canucks are a good enough team to limit scoring chances and shots. He’s worth considering if you want to get creative.

NHL DFS Lineups: Best Skaters To Use

Nathan MacKinnon, C, Colorado Avalanche

If the Colorado Avalanche have any hope of keeping this series close, they need Nathan MacKinnon to be superhuman. We know he isn’t as dominant on the road, but he’s still the best player on the ice in this game. He’s going to get his chances so all he has to do is convert. I’ll pay a premium for a player like him.

Mika Zibanejad, C, New York Rangers

New York has an excellent matchup on paper and Mika Zibanejad is a player worth considering. He finished the last game with an assist and four shots on goal. I think he’s going to get overlooked tonight, which should help keep his value low. His shot volume should be safe enough to play him in all formats.

Filip Forsberg, W, Nashville Predators

If I’m the Nashville Predators, the game plan is to throw everything at the net. Casey DeSmith isn’t elite, so they have to test him early, and often. Filip Forsberg was elite this season and he finished with over a point-per-game on the road. We know he can fire the puck on goal, so I expect nothing less from him in a favourable matchup.

Kyle Connor, W, Winnipeg Jets

Do we need any more proof that Alexandar Georgiev is #NotGood? He may have won the most games during the regular season, but he’s a below-average goalie on an elite hockey team. Kyle Connor finished the last game with two goals and five shots on goal and I think he can repeat those numbers. Winnipeg needs to continue to get everything on goal and good things will happen.

Cale Makar, D, Colorado Avalanche

Cale Makar quietly finished the last game with three points, four shots on goal and two blocked shots. He is by far the best defenseman on the team and he’s going to see a ton of ice time, especially if Colorado is forced to play from behind. If you want to get exposure to Colorado without having to play MacKinnon, Makar is the next-best option.

Martin Fehervary, D, Washington Capitals

We need at least one value player tonight and the best bang for your buck is Martin Fehervary. He finished the last game with a goal, three shots on goal and three blocked shots. We aren’t going to rely on him for offence-- that just isn’t his game-- but he can block shots and a lot of them. For $3,000 on DraftKings, that is crazy good value. If anything, his salary savings allows you to pay up elsewhere.
