We're down to 69 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs as the golfers roll into the Carmel, Indiana for the BMW Championship. Crooked Stick plays host to the third tournament for the first time since 2012 when Rory McIlory took home the title. Rory is coming off his first win of the 2016 season at the Deutsche Bank which he also won in 2012. The course is known to play into the hands of the bombers as this par 72 stretches out 7,516 yards. This was the first prominently designed course of Pete Dye which was constructed over an old cornfield back in 1965. A staple of Pete Dye courses, no two consecutive holes face in the same direction and players must be able to generate drive both left-to-right and right-to-left.
Lets go back and look at the Top 8 from the 2012 trip; most were long hitters and were able to take advantage of the Par 5's compared to the rest of the field. These same bombers had a minimum of 23 holes under par (birdies and eagles combined). A ton of rain hit the course before the 2012 tournament which made the course very scorable for these players. Rory finished at 20 under and the forecast once again calls for rain all the way into Saturday afternoon. You should be looking for players who aren't afraid to go for the birdie and score big this weekend, very boom or bust type week. When I say boom or bust, it doesn't mean stars and scrubs. It means you want players who you know can go really low in any given round.
I did things a little differently this week. Since this is a no cut event and there are only 69 players in the field, I'm not putting out a full playbook. I am releasing three optimal GPP lineups for both Draft Kings and Fantasy Aces. I am only putting out GPP lineups because this is not a week to be playing cash with such a small field. I'm giving you options with your GPPs and you'll notice I employed different stratagies.
Finally, I have to welcome back our girl Paige. She is really happy about last week as 16 of the 20 golfers listed in our playbook made the cut. There should be a lot of happy people after using last week's playbook.
REMINDER ... There is a week break before the TOUR Championship on the week of September 22-25th. There will be NO PLAYBOOK next week.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
