The Rockies are the top stacking option tonight at home, as they once again have the top projected run total. I think pitching is wide open tonight, and best to take your chances there, while loading up on hitting from the three top teams tonight. Keep in mind there may be weather concerns, so make sure to keep an eye on the weather center for any updates close to gametime.

Boston

Disappointed last night as Rondon shut the Red Sox down. I think they get back on track tonight vs Shields. Shields has allowed six runs in four of his last seven starts, and allowing three homers in a game in three of those starts. The Red Sox won with a walk off homer last night, and are heavy favorites to blow out the White Sox tonight. Pomeranz is 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA vs the White Sox as well.

Boston has highest projected run total of the night after the Rockies, and Shields is coming off a 9.00 July ERA. Opponents are hitting .379 against James Shields on high fastballs this season (Rank: 141st of 143 qualified SPs in MLB; League Avg: .228)

Shields is also 2-9 with a 5.42 ERA in 14 starts at Fenway, and will be facing some tough batters tonight. Nunez went deep last night, and is on a tear for his new team. He’s also 13-26 with three hr’s lifetime off of Shields. Moreland, who won hit the walk off last night, has two home runs off Shields. Throw in the lefty Devers, and you have three solid players that could all have big games vs Shields tonight.

If looking for some cheaper options, Xander is 1-6 with a hr off Shields, and Hanley has taken him deep as well. He did leave last night’s game though so best to target Moreland.

Top Stack Suggestions: Eduardo Nunez, Rafael Devers, Mitch Moreland, Mookie Betts

Secondary Options: Andrew Benintendi, Christian Vazquez, Hanley Ramirez or Brock Holt (If Starting).

Baltimore

The Tigers have won four games in a row, including the first two vs Baltimore in this series. Although the O’s offense has slumped a bit, I like them tonight as a pivot off the top two options. Drew VerHagen is making his first start of the year for the Tigers after being called up shortly after the break. He’s pitched just four innings since then, allowing four hits, with three of them going for home runs. Even though it’s a smaller sample size, VerHagen has thrown his curveball 44.4% of the time (12/27) vs right-handed batters this season (Rank: 5th of 64 qualified RPs in MLB; League Avg: 22.6%). Orioles hitters have a swing rate of 47.2% (2,354/4,984) on curves and sliders this season (Rank: 5th of 30 in MLB). What could scare people off them is that 165 of the Orioles 936 strikeouts (17.6%) have come on curveballs this season (Rank: 29th of 30 in MLB; League Avg: 15.0%). I don’t think Drew has the elite stuff, having only 69 K’s in 97 innings in the minors this season.

Tim Beckham has rose to the second highest priced SS on DK tonight, after going deep for the second straight game. He’s the 19th priced SS on FanDuel tonight by comparison. The rest of the O’s are slightly banged up, but there are some nice plays available from them tonight at affordable price points. The Orioles are batting .293 (227-for-774) with RISP this season (Rank: 4th of 30 in MLB; League Avg: .261)

Top Suggested Stack: Tim Beckham, Chris Davis, Jonathan Schoop, Manny Machado.

Secondary Options: Seth Smith, Wellington Castillo, Adam Jones
