The cavalry is arriving in a big way as a lot of big names are ready to come off of the DL within the upcoming weeks. That being said, a lot of players you’ve picked up over the past weeks and or months won’t be worth the roster spot. Let us help you hit the waiver wire carefully!

10-team leagues

Matt Adams, ATL 1B, OF (5% ownership), FAAB Bid - $15 – This is our favorite add of the week for a number of reasons. Adams is multi-position eligible and will be playing everyday with Freddie Freeman out for quite a while. Three of the last four seasons Adams has hit at least 15 homers and has driven in 50-plus runs and the fourth season he only played 60 games because of injury. Let’s not forget to point out how hitter-friendly the Braves new stadium is, especially for lefties. SunTrust Park is top-10 in both run average and slugging and it the stadium wasn’t even open for almost a month of the season! Adams has a career .810 OPS versus RHP, so he’s the perfect fit for the Braves and your fantasy team.

Matt Shoemaker, LAA SP (63% ownership), FAAB Bid - $13 – It’s been night and day with Shoemaker since he burst onto the scene a few seasons ago and nothing’s changed this year. He sucked in April but has seemingly turned the corner here in May, posting three consecutive quality outings. His K/9 is up from 8.44 to 9.0 this month, while his FIP, wOBA and HR/FB are all way down as well. Another beneficiary Shoemaker has is the ballpark he plays in, as well as the parks in his division. Seattle, Los Angeles and Oakland all classify as pitching friendly confines, which is likely where he’ll pitch the most throughout the season.

12-team leagues

Devon Travis, TOR 2B (38% ownership), FAAB Bid - $9-11 – Everyone, and we mean everyone, hopped off the Devon Travis bandwagon after his putrid month of April but boy has that tune changed during the month of May. Just over the past 14 days, Travis is hitting .450. He’s excelled at setting the table over that same timeframe, posting a .609 OBP with the bases empty. He’s definitely an intriguing option in formats that have a MI spot or even multiple UTIL slots.

Junior Guerra, MIL SP (23% ownership), FAAB Bid- $6-9 – Get him while you can because he’s going to be swiped off the wire faster than you realize he’s 32-years young and has played 11-years of professional baseball. Guerra was money last year as he posted a .250 BABIP and a solid 3.71 FIP. He had above average contacts splits in 2016 as well, allowing just 34-percent hard contact which is right on the “above average” line according to FanGraphs. He only made one start before suffering an injury, so be cautious with how you use him his first start back, but don’t hold him back after that.

Cameron Maybin, LAA OF (19% ownership), FAAB Bid - $6 – Maybin has begun heating up, which is great news, especially for Mike Trout owners. Seeing how Maybin hits leadoff, followed by Trout, his .482 OBP over the last 14 days only provides more opportunity for Trout to drive in runs. He’s done exceptionally well with two strikes over the past two weeks as he leads the MLB with a whopping .531 OBP. Scoop him up in all formats and slot him into your OF3/OF4 position.

15-team leagues

Jorge Bonifacio, KC OF (2% ownership), FAAB Bid - $6 – If you’re sitting at home staring at how much your team desperately needs power, look no further. He’s homered in four of his last five games and is on an absolute power surge. Bonafacio showed really solid pop in the minors over the past two seasons belting 36 homers combined from 2015-’16. He’s striking out at a 26.3-percent clip, which is higher than we want, but his .347 wOBA can’t be ignored. Taking a flier on someone with this type of power can really benefit your team going forward.

Lonnie Chisenhall, CLE OF (5% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5 – Guess who’s hit the same amount of big flys as Bryce Harper and Paul Goldschmidt over the past two weeks? That’s right. Chisenhall and the other two have all hit four over the previous 14 days. His career slugging percentage is .420 and his OPS checks in at .732 so are his .543 SLG and .877 OPS sustainable? Probably not, but we should ride him while he’s hot. Chisenhall’s success this year is done early in his team’s bouts as he’s posted a .717 SLG against them. He’s a very viable option for team’s looking for help in the OF.

Gleyber Torres, NYY SS (10% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5 – Get ready ladies and gentlemen, because the Yankees phenom infielder is closer to the big leagues than ever. Recently called up to Triple-A, Torres could be with the Yankees by the end of June depending on his success at AAA and if Chase Headley continues to struggle. Headley’s slashing .154/.179/.231 with a .410 OPS. If that isn’t enough, Torres slashed .403/.513/.645 helping him register an Arizona Fall league MVP last year, then followed that up with .448 with six doubles and two homers in 19 Spring Training games this season. Stash him if you have the available space on your roster, make room if you don’t. Don’t pass on this opportunity.
