2025 Season Recap
Patrick Mahomes was putting together a monster 2025 before his left knee buckled in Week 15 against the Chargers. Through 14 games he threw for 3,587 yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions before tearing his ACL and LCL, having surgery the next day, and watching Kansas City finish 6-11 without him. The Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era. It was a brutal end to what had been a really promising season through the first two months.
2026 Fantasy Outlook
The good news as of mid-June is that Mahomes looks ahead of schedule. He was throwing in OTAs in May and the Chiefs are optimistic he will be ready for Week 1 without restrictions. If that happens, and we think it does, he is still Patrick Mahomes in Andy Reid's offense and a top-five finish is absolutely on the table. The Chiefs traded for Justin Fields as insurance just in case, so you are not completely unprotected. He is the consensus QB11, which is a real discount from where he normally goes. If you believe in the recovery, this is a value you cannot pass on in the eighth round.
