2022 Player Outlook

Machado may feel old but that’s because he debuted at the age of 19 with Baltimore. His slugging percentage fell 91 points from 2020 to 2021, but he still hit 28 home runs with 92 runs scored and 106 RBI. The 12 steals certainly feel like an added bonus for those who drafted him. He’s still in the prime of his career and he’ll turn 30 years old this summer. He’s firmly locked into the third base role with the Padres and should hit either third or fourth on a consistent basis. He also comes with a steady floor of 30+ home runs and 100+ RBI and he’ll hit for average as well. If he goes out and gets 8-12 steals you’ll take that and call it gravy.
