Justin Fields is considered “day-to-day” after dislocating a toe in his right foot on Thursday.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Diamondbacks are planning to operate as sellers at the trade deadline.
Mariners recalled RHP Jackson Kowar from Triple-A Tacoma.
Kowar, 28, will give the Mariners an added righty in the bullpen for the series against the Angels; a lineup that is predominantly right-handed. He’ll work a middle-inning role in this stint with Seattle.
Mariners optioned LHP Brandyn Garcia to Triple-A Tacoma.
Garcia made two appearances with Seattle in the series against Milwaukee and struggled to throw strikes while allowing a pair of runs in his pair of innings. He could be back before the end of the summer, but Jackson Kowar is heading up to take Garcia’s place in the meantime.
Rays optioned RHP Taj Bradley to Triple-A Durham.
It’s now official. Bradley has had some decent starts, but the 1 2/3 innings of four-run baseball against the White Sox was the final straw. The 24-year-old still has long-term upside, but he can safely be dropped in redraft formats.
Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports that the Rockies are promoting Nick Anderson from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Anderson was signed to a minor league deal by the Rockies back in May, and the former closer will get a chance to pitch at the highest level two months later. It’s been a while since the 35-year-old had fantasy relevancy, and it’s impossible to imagine that changes in Colorado.
