Player Name

Colts HC Shane Steichen said “sooner rather than later would be nice” when asked about when he would like to name the QB1.

Speaking Thursday, Steichen said he doesn’t “have an exact timetable” on when he will name the Colts’ QB1, but with the Colts’ second preseason set to take place on Saturday against the Packers, it wouldn’t be surprising if Steichen came to a decision on his QB1 before the preseason finale in order to avoid starting him in a meaningless game. Anthony Richardson played only seven snaps last week against the Ravens before exiting the game with a dislocated pinky finger. Steichen will undoubtedly want to get a longer look at him this weekend as he looks to cement his decision.

Bradley Blalock allowed seven runs over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

They say that if you don’t have anything nice to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all. Blalock faces the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Eduardo Rodriguez allowed only one run in seven innings and picked up a win over the Rockies on Thursday.

It’s only the fifth win of season for Rodriguez, and yes, it still counts even if it’s the Rockies. The southpaw allowed just a solo homer to Kyle Farmer, and outside of that kept Colorado off the board to lower his ERA to a still-unuseable 5.40 on the 2025 campaign. He’ll try and repeat his success against the Guardians on Tuesday. It’s a mistake in process to bet on that occurring.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a three-run homer and stole a base in a blowout win over the Rockies on Thursday.

Gurriel gave the Diamondbacks an early cushion with a three-run shot in the first off Bradley Blalock. He’s now up to 10 steals in 2025, and the homer was his 15th. Gurriel has picked things up as of late, but the .244/.294/.406 slash leaves a lot to be desired in the majority of fantasy formats.

Kyle Farmer hit a solo home run while going 3-for-4 in a blowout loss Thursday to the Diamondbacks.

Farmer’s homer was the sixth of the season and brought in the only run the Rockies would score off a surprisingly effective Eduardo Rodriguez. The veteran infielder got off to a nice start to his 2025 season, but even after this solid game he’s hitting a less-than-desirable .227/.280/.360. He’s the definition of a player who provides more real-life value than fantasy.

Edouard Julien went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in an extra-inning loss to the Tigers on Thursday.

Julien took Tarik Skubal deep in the third inning because baseball is weird. It’s just the third homer for Julien, and it lifts his slugging percentage all the way up to .328. Julien looked like a pretty intriguing fantasy option not that long ago, but even with a game like Wednesday, he doesn’t appear to be much more than a depth piece.
