Fantasy Alarm is taking a different approach to help our subscribers build successful DFS lineups. I will be giving you my personal core plays for this weekend's tournament. These players listed below are my three favorite top tier, middle tier and value tier players for both DraftKings and Fanduel. They will be at the core of all my lineups for this weekend's U.S. Open and then I'll use my playbook to fill out the remaining spots in my lineup.
Make sure you read my full PGA DFS Playbook for the U.S. Open before using these core plays. You can also take a look at my Weekly Tournament Projections at any time.
It’s the third major of the PGA Tour season and it’s being played on one of the most beautiful but challenging courses in the world. Even though a lot of these players have experience at this course, they haven’t seen it tricked up for U.S. Open type conditions. These pros will have the whole of their games tested. My hope is that the playbook will help you avoid the bulk of the landmines this weekend.
I’m going to go balanced with the majority of my lineups. When you have a field as strong as this one and a course as difficult as this one, you want to get as much talent onto your rosters as possible. That’s my personal choice but I’m not going to try and squeeze in 2-3 guys 10K and above and have to play 2-3 guys under 7K. You aren’t going to win a big GPP if 2-3 guys miss the cut, so I’d rather put in more guys that have a legit shot of making the cut than trying to squeeze in an extra 10K and an above player.
The players who I will likely be overweight on this weekend are Rory McIlory, Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Daniel Berger, Jason Kokrak, Harris English, Jhonattan Vegas, and Troy Merritt. These guys will be scattered throughout my lineups for the U.S. Open.
This new format of core plays I think is way more valuable to our subscribers because it lends more to teaching than just copy and pasting. A set of these players will be in each one of my lineups this weekend and then a mix of players from my playbook will fill out the rest.
