MLB DFS Value Vault: June 29
Published: Jun 29, 2021
Full slate tonight, ladies and gents! There’s a lot of vulnerable pitchers to attack today and expect 174 percent ownership of Shohei Ohtani today! Otherwise, there are some pitchers that could command a pretty penny, so you’ll have to factor that in if you’re paying up, and we have a barnburner of a series at Coors Field with the Pittsburgh Pirates in town. Without further ado, let’s dive in today’s value options!
Ryan Zimmerman, 1B WAS ($2,500 FD/$3,300 DK) - Zimmerman and Rich Hill are familiar foes, and much to the former’s delight. In 13 at-bats against Hill, the veteran first baseman has six hits (2 HR), three RBI and three walks to just one strikeout. That’s good for a .462 average and 1.560 OPS! Zimmerman has a .297 batting average at home this year, and through four June starts, Hill has a 4.12 ERA with an 18:10 K/BB ratio.
Andrew McCutchen, OF PHI ($3,000 FD/$3,500 DK) - I love Trevor Rogers as much as the next guy, but I’m a sucker for BvP data! Cutch has hit southpaws at a .286 clip this year, with seven home runs in just 98 at-bats. The veteran outfielder is 4-for-7 with two home runs against Rogers, good for a .571 average and .778 wOBA! Rogers is very good, so I likely won’t look at Cutch in cash, however, with the BvP data favoring both Cutch and Rhys Hoskins, that could make for an interesting contrarian stack in GPPs.
Jared Walsh, 1B/OF LAA ($3,400 FD) - Walsh has hit righties at a .342 clip this year with 14 home runs and 40 RBI, and on the road this season, he’s homered once every 20 at-bats and has hit .271. On the road this season, Jameson Taillon has an 11.12 ERA and has served up a .382 batting average to the opposition. Taillon has been far more against lefties (.873 OPS) than righties (.688), so load up on those L.A. lefties today! Walsh just might be my favorite play on the entire slate.
Amed Rosario, SS CLE ($2,600 FD) - Detroit’s Jose Urena has struggled this season, and all Rosario has done is hit righties at a .272 clip in 2021. Also, at his home park, Rosario is hitting .324! He has at least 12 FanDuel points in three straight contests and there’s going to be some runs put up in this game! Other players to note are Cesar Hernandez and Bobby Bradley from Cleveland, as well as Akil Baddoo from Detroit.
Jacob Stallings, C PIT ($3,100 DK) - Yes, Bryan Reynolds is still in play, but I’m looking at Stallings here, especially on DraftKings where you are forced to start a catcher. Sure, he’s hitting just .210 over the month of June, but if you look more recently, he’s been decent. He’s hit safely in five of his last seven games, hitting .280 in that span with five RBI and two runs scored. He’s hit righties at a .256 clip in 2021, and he’s playing at the game’s most lucrative offensive park.
Josh Rojas, OF ARI ($3,200 DK) - Rojas is hitting an even .300 with a .440 slugging percentage over the last two weeks, hitting one home run, driving in six runners and scoring seven times himself during that span. He’s hitting righties at a .259 clip, but he gets a great matchup against St. Louis’ Carlos Martinez, who has struggled against left-handed hitters (.269 BAA). In six home starts this year, Martinez has a 5.85 ERA and in the month of June, he’s 0-5 with a 13.73 ERA across five starts. Ouch.
