Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners Predictions: Monday, June 16th

Had to get into the wagering implications of the Rafael Devers trade immediately today. His departure leaves a huge gap in the lineup for Boston as they start this road trip out on the West Coast. There is, of course, a lack of bite now in this lineup with his power gone. Going against Logan Gilbert tonight is not going to help them one bit, so let’s get into this game.

The Boston offense has been middle of the pack when it comes to scoring runs on the road all season. That was playing games with Devers and also Alex Bregman, who is out injured. Without those two guys, the consistency may not be there, and I am banking on that today when it comes to run production.

Going against Gilbert will be a tough task as he makes his first start since late April, but before the injury, he was holding down an ERA of 2.37 and gave up just 18 hits over 30.1 innings pitched. Not sure how deep he pitches into this game tonight, but while he’s out there, expect some shutdown innings.

On the other side of the matchup is Lucas Giolito, and he’s not been good this season overall. Still, he is coming off a good start against the Rays, where he allowed just 3 hits and 1 run over 6 innings of work. The Mariners' offense shouldn’t push him too far either, as their isolated power numbers are in the dumpster, and they are starting to strike out often again.

Expect this game to be lower scoring and take the under tonight, which stands on some books right now at 7.5 runs.

Pick: Red Sox vs. Mariners Under 7.5 Runs (-130 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
