We are on the third and final day of Play-In Round Robin play. Each team has one match left to help bolster their record and get to the highest seeding possible. You have a tie at the top of Group A with both Fnatic and Evil Geniuses only losing one game a piece (Fnatic owns the head-to-head tiebreaker). Group B is solely owned by DRX who, with a win over MAD Lions on Sunday, will lock up the group with an undefeated record. The second seed of each group will need to face the winner of the third-versus-fourth place match of the opposite group. Seeding means everything and you know each of these teams would love to secure the best matchups possible. Let’s dive in!

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Game #1: Beyond Gaming v Fnatic

Game Breakdown: This is a dangerous matchup for Fnatic. BYG is sitting on the doorstep of making the elimination round or finding themselves eliminated from the World Championships. Up until their lost to LOUD, Fnatic had shown a lot of resilience to early game mistakes (to which they are very susceptible to) and they will need to find that once again. FNC’s support (Hylissang) has shown multiple times to be prone to getting caught out in rotation or being over-aggressive in the laning phase. BYG will continue to rely on their play making mid laning (Minji) who is the top three in kills (25) and a 5.3 KDA. Fnatic will look to rely on the late game playmaking of Upset (ADC). Upset has the highest KDA throughout playins (36.0) and has a team kill hare percentage of 43%. This should be a very entertaining way to start a full day of matches.

Favorite Picks: Upset (FNC: $11.700/$7,800), Hylissang (RNC: $5,800), FNC ($5,600)

Value Picks: HuSha (BYG: $5,600), Minji (BYG: $5,800)

Cann’s Match Pick: Fnatic

Game #2: LOUD v Chiefs Gaming

Game Breakdown: You have to feel really confident picking LOUD in this matchup. They are coming off a huge win against Fnatic in which their bottom lane of Brance (ADC) and Ceos (support) absolutely worked over Upset and Hylissang in the laning phase. The most impactful player for the Chiefs have been their jungler, Arthur. He has 10 kills in 4 games played but also is averaging 3.5 deaths per game as well. LOUD should be able to come in with their aggressive playstyle and keep this less skilled OCE team in check.

Favorite Picks: tinowns (LLL: $10,500/$7,000)

Value Picks: Brance (LLL: $6,800), Ceos (LLL: $5,2000)

Cann’s Match Pick: LOUD

Game #3: Detonation FocusMe v Evil Geniuses

Game Breakdown: Historically speaking, the Evil Geniuses are terrified of repeating the faults of LCS teams of old. LCS teams have had a hard time, especially against the minor Asian regions, when put into must-win situations. Detonation FocusMe are definitely not as strong as they have been historically, but they pose a real threat against the North American representatives. The risk here is the DFM ADC (Yutapon) building upon his  hot start to the tournament with 24 kills and 21 assists through their 4 games played. EG will continue to crutch on jojopyun to build massive leads in the middle lane and we see that with his aggressive champion picks like Akali and Sylas.

Favorite Picks: jojopyun (EG: $11,400/$7,600), Inspired (EG: $7,400), Evil Geniuses ($5,200)

Value Picks: Evi (DFM: $5,600), Yutapon (DFM: $6,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Evil Geniuses

Game #4: IIstanbul Wildcats v Isurus Gaming

Game Breakdown: This is a really tough game to get a read on. Both teams have had glimmers of success but lacked the consistent firepower to finish off on big plays. I am leaning towards IW in the matchup because of the individual skill of their two carries, HolyPhoenix and Serin. HolyPhoenix has one of the longest international resumes of any Turkish player and has gone toe to toe with some of the best talent in international tournaments in recent years. Isurus will focus on the top half of the map with Grell and ADD. These different approaches could mean an electric late game finish if neither team can gain a definitive edge in the early game.

Favorite Picks: HolyPhoenix (IW: $7,200), Serin (IW: $7,400)

Value Picks: Grell (ISG: $6,000)

Cann’s Match Pick:

Game #5: DRX v MAD Lions

Game Breakdown: Of all matches on the day, this is the most star studded but I don’t think this means the match will be very close. The MAD Lions capitalize on opposing teams stepping out of line. They like making matches messy, trying to capitalize on non-traditional fights. Unfortunately for the MAD Lions, Pyosik and DRX play an incredibly safe game. Watch out for Deft to control the late game fights with high damage output champions like Aphelios, Tristana, or Miss Fortune.

Favorite Picks: Zeka (DRX: $11,700/$7,800), Pyosik (DRX: $7,200), Deft (DRX: $7,400)

Value Picks: Armut (MAD: $5,400), MAD Lions ($4,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: DRX

Game #6: Royal Never Give Up v Saigon Buffalo

Game Breakdown: The Saigon Buffalo will make this game look close in the early game but do not confuse this with the match actually being close. RNG will run away with this game in the mid game. They are so coordinated as a team and they have a well defined approach to the game. You will see Xiaohu (mid) in his element as a team facilitator and I would love to see Breathe on carry champions like Fiora or Camille.

Favorite Picks: Gala (RNG: $12,000/$8,000), Xiaohu (RNG: $12,000/$8,000), Breathe (RNG: $7,200)

Value Picks: Taki (SGB: $4,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: Royal Never Give Up
