After a practice where Romo was throwing "missiles" and EVP Stephen Jones said the Cowboys are "going to need" Romo "at some point," it looks like it won't be this week. With Dak Prescott winning games for the Cowboys it will be interesting to see what happens when Romo is ready to go.
Deayon also injured his jaw in the contest, but the broken forearm is the greater concern for the first-year cornerback, whose season is most likely over. The Boise State product has made four appearances for the Giants in 2017, collecting 10 tackles and one pass breakup.
It was his highest total since Week 4. Smith is no longer in the starting lineup, even with Sean Lee (hamstring) sidelined, but if he continues making plays he'll see his snap count start trending back up at the expense of veteran Justin Durant.
He was once again Dak Prescott's favorite checkdown option, but the aging tight end wasn't able to do much with the ball after the catch. Witten's erratic target volume -- he's alternated games of seven targets and one target over the last month -- make him a risky fantasy play even in PPR formats, but with injuries mounting on the Cowboys' offensive line, his role could become steadier down the stretch as Prescott finds himself with less time in the pocket.
Stafford hurt his ankle early in the fourth quarter on his 43-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Jones, with the injury seemingly derailing the Lions' comeback effort. Though he remained in the contest, Stafford completed only three of six passes for seven yards the rest of the way, with his final third-down pass proving especially costly, as he overthrew an open Golden Tate on what was essentially a game-sealing interception. Though his Thanksgiving Day ended on a sour note, Stafford indicated that he expects to be "alright" for the Week 13 matchup with the Ravens, with the nine full off days in between games surely helping his cause.
Aside from a 38-yard grab in the fourth quarter when the Cowboys were trying to mount a desperate comeback, Williams and the entire passing game were ineffective on the day. It still resulted in his third best yardage total of the season, which speaks to how risky a fantasy play the 27-year-old is right now, especially with Dak Prescott having the worst stretch of his career.
Despite being in the protocol, Cutler was able to throw some passes at Thursday's practice, though backup Matt Moore took reps with the first-team offense. It sounds as though Cutler is progressing as well as the Dolphins had anticipated from the concussion, so the expectation is that he'll increase his activity Friday and potentially receive the green light for the Week 12 matchup later in the day or Saturday. Before his departure in the Week 11 loss to the Buccaneers, Cutler was enduring his worst outing of the season -- he completed six of 12 attempts for 83 yards, a touchdown and an interception -- but had played well prior to that, amassing 813 passing yards and a 9:3 TD:INT over his preceding four contests. He'll draw a favorable matchup against a Patriots passing defense that ranks last in the NFL with 282 yards allowed per game.
It was his lowest target volume since Week 3, and Bryant has now failed to score a touchdown in five straight games, the longest in-season scoring slump of his career. With injuries mounting on the Cowboys' offensive line and Dak Prescott in a funk, Bryant's opportunities to break out of his own slump could remain limited.
The 13-yard grab was the longest play from scrimmage by any Cowboys RB on the day. Morris seems to be falling into a time share with Rod Smith, as coach Jason Garrett rides the hot, or even the lukewarm, hand in his backfield in an effort to spark the offense, but with injuries mounting on the offensive line and Dak Prescott unable to make anything happen in the passing game, Morris' fantasy value would be murky even if he did have the starting job to himself.
He also caught both his targets for seven yards. Smith was slightly more effective than Alfred Morris on the day, although neither back had a run of 10 or more yards and the Dallas ground game lost what little momentum it had once right guard Zack Martin left the game with a concussion. The third-yard back has seen a steady increase in his workload since Ezekiel Elliott (suspension) was removed from the equation, but the Cowboys' current offensive funk puts a ceiling on Smith's fantasy value even if he were able to wrest the starting RB job away from Morris.
He did have a long TD run called back due to a holding penalty, but otherwise Prescott was once again ineffective, and the Cowboys' offense seems to have fallen completely apart without Ezekiel Elliott. The second-year QB will get a few extra days to try and figure out how to turn things around before Week 13's home tilt against Washington.
It's probably a compliment to Bosa that a four-tackle day for a defensive end is a disappointment. But given the second-year pass rusher had his six game sack streak snapped Thursday, it certainly could be viewed as such. It wasn't as if Bosa was kept in check though, as the 22-year-old very nearly missed a sack on three separate occasions, only for the elusive Dak Prescott to scramble away.
Hayward essentially iced the game with his interception, sliding in front of an errant Dak Prescott throw for his third pick in the last two weeks. Hayward continues to cement himself among the NFL's best at cornerback.
