Cowboys signed P Bryan Anger, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year contract.

Anger, 32, was 12th in net punting average last season for Houston. The Cowboys, meanwhile, cut punter Chris Jones last month. The Texans parted ways with Anger to create salary cap space just two years after signing him to a three-year contract. He should compete with punter Hunter Niswander for the Week 1 job. Probably he'll be required to punt less often in 2021 with the Cowboys' explosive offense churning out yards and points.

J. Clowney - DL

Josina Anderson reports free agent DE Jadeveon Clowney is visiting the Browns.

Cleveland set up a visit for Clowney at the end of March but the defensive lineman left without a deal. Clowney presumably continued to test the market but never managed to find a sizable contract. The Browns were also reported to be in the mix to land Clowney last offseason. With the opening of free agency months in the rearview, Clowney isn't likely to have many substantial offers on the table at this time. Signing a short-term deal with Cleveland makes sense for both sides. The Browns are holding onto more cap than the average NFL team and look poised to be a playoff contender again in 2021. Clowney will reap the benefits of playing opposite Myles Garrett which should boost his stats and earn him a bigger payday in the coming years.

Former Bears WR Taylor Gabriel announced his retirement from the NFL after six seasons.

Gabriel was released by the Bears ahead of the 2020 season. He then chose to opt out of the season despite drawing some interest as a free agent. Gabriel began his career as a UDFA in Cleveland, reaching 621 receiving yards as a rookie. He spent two years with the Falcons and another two with the Bears. An accomplished field-stretcher with impressive top-end speed, Gabriel ends his career with 228 receptions for 2,860 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Free agent SS Kenny Vaccaro "could be an option" for the Falcons.

The Falcons have a need at safety after moving on from Keanu Neal. Jaylinn Hawkins and T.J. Green are currently the only returning options behind Erik Harris on their depth chart. Signing Vaccaro would give Atlanta a low-cost veteran that’s posted at least 80 tackles the last two seasons. 30-year-old Vaccaro played 2020 at a $4.25M base salary.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said WR Josh Reynolds can play both outside and in the slot.

Reynolds is the Titans’ Corey Davis replacement after they let Davis sign with the Jets in free agency. He’ll likely see most of his snaps outside but can also mix in as an oversized slot receiver. Playing in a run-heavy scheme, Reynolds is unlikely to see Davis’ 92 targets from last year, but he could emerge as a red-zone threat with both Davis and Jonnu Smith gone.

Free agent Richard Sherman doesn't expect to sign with a team until after the draft.

“We got to wait until the draft happens before anything else shakes out, because everybody has their hopes and dreams in the draft, which is understandable. You turn 33, and then it's like, we'll wait until we get a young pup. And if we can't get a young pup, we'll take an old fool. So that's where we're sitting,” Sherman said on the Cris Collinsworth Podcast. Sherman was limited to five 2020 appearances due to injuries, but didn't show any dropoff in his play when healthy. The Raiders, Rams, Chargers and Seahawks have been the teams most mentioned as possible destinations for Sherman. The 49ers also haven’t ruled out bringing him back.

Johnson is four months removed from December surgery. He's still in the rehab stage but expects to be cleared in the next few weeks. That gives him a chance to be ready for OTAs. The Eagles offensive line should be improved this season with Johnson, Brandon Brooks, and Andre Dillard all on track for Week 1.

Harrison played just 150 regular-season snaps between the Packers and Seattle last year. He was a non-factor in the two playoff games he appeared in. Harrison turns 33 in November and looked washed in 2020 but is two seasons removed from being one of the league’s better run stoppers. He should land a non-guaranteed deal before training camp.

Bengals director of personnel Duke Tobin said the team is open to re-signing free agent DT Geno Atkins.

Atkins would need to accept a lower salary deal, but the Bengals haven’t ruled out bringing him back. Playing through a torn labrum, Atkins had his snaps limited when healthy last year and hasn’t generated much interest coming off an injury-shortened 2020. Re-signing with the Bengals could offer Atkins a chance to rehab his value in a sub-package role.

Goodson set career highs in 14 starts last year, posting 91 tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
