A Viking his entire 10-year career, Rudolph was on the record as not willing to take a pay cut, making this an expected cut. The move clears $5.037 million in cap space, a number that increases to $7.937 million if he is designated as a post-June 1 release. Headed into his age-32 campaign, Rudolph's 28 receptions last season were his fewest since his injury-shortened 2014. He made it clear in a February interview that did not sit well with him. Rudolph's experience and wingspan should draw plenty of interest as a goal-line threat and chain mover. His departure from Minnesota paves the TE2 way for Irv Smith, a third-year pro who could make the leap to TE1 status in 2021.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette believes the Steelers are "most likely" to use their first-round pick on a running back.

Longtime Steelers reporter Gerry Dulac believes the team will address the backfield "no later" than the second round. Dulac points to the team's complete revamp of its offensive coaching personnel before letting James Conner walk in free agency. The Steelers have the No. 24 overall pick on Day 1. Clemson's Travis Etienne is probably the draft's best back over Alabama's Najee Harris and North Carolina's Javonte Williams, offering elite edge and open-field ability to go with a three-down skill-set. Dulac believes the Steelers want to go back to an alpha approach after employing middling committees the past few seasons. That would make whoever arrives on Day 1 or 2 an instant RB2.

At least for now, McCourty has completed his Big Apple visit without a deal. There has been zero indication whom the supposed mystery teams might be. McCourty has been connected to the Giants since early April and no one else, at least publicly. Headed into his age-34 campaign, McCourty probably had the worst year of his career in 2020.

The Saints' cap situation forced them to move on from Easton, who was due $5.8 million, this offseason. The Texans have a standing offer for Easton, the Bengals have interest, and re-signing in New Orleans at a lower salary is still in the mix. Easton made 15 starts in a swing role in his two years with the Saints.

“I like some of the guys we have right now. It’s a talented group and Justin could come back,” Irsay said. “There are a couple other options in free agency and in the draft. The man who injured in a Pittsburgh brawl last weekend has "recanted accusations" after security footage showed Donald wasn't involved in the fight. “I wanted to make this statement public. And to extend an apology to Aaron for what he’s gone through, but I clearly know this was not him,” Attorney Todd Hollis said in a statement. The security footage also confirmed Donald "actually came to the rescue and pulled people away." This end the legal issues for Donald, who turns 30 next month. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year will have an extended offseason after Rams players opted out of May's voluntary OTAs.

Goodwin was traded to the Eagles last April before he opted out of the 2020 season. He reverted back to the 49ers and was released in a cap saving move at the start of free agency. Goodwin hasn't played a full season since 2017 but gives Chicago a deep threat that can contribute on special teams. The 30-year-old will need a strong training camp to make the 53-man roster.

He'd add to New York's secondary, which already invested $39 million into Adoree' Jackson this offseason.
