Robertson missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 35-year-old reliever is a free agent, and he plans to hold a showcase for interested teams sometime in early February.

Despite Trevor Bauer's best cyclops impression, where he threw three scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out three, the Dodgers lost to the Padres, 2-1, in Saturday's Cactus League matchup.

The 2020 NL Cy Young winner said he wanted to "make things interesting" in his second start of the spring by pitching with one eye closed. Bauer has been training with one eye closed in the offseason, in order to take away some depth perception, and improve his command. Bauer ended up throwing 52 pitches over his three scoreless innings; 37 of those pitches were strikes.

Gosuke Katoh's two-run RBI single propelled the Padres past the Dodgers on Saturday, resulting in a 2-1 victory.

Dodgers pitching seemed to have the Padres lineup mystified for most of the game, until Katoh came into the game in the sixth inning as a defensive replacement for Ha-seong Kim. Katoh's single was off Scott Alexander, and scored Pedro Florimon and Patrick Kivlehan. Katoh was signed in the offseason to a minor-league deal with an invitation to camp. The 26-year-old has played a diverse range of positions through his minor league career and could very well earn himself a utility role in San Diego.

Matt Davidson's RBI double drove in the only run scored by the Dodgers, in Saturday's loss to the Padres, 2-1.

The run-scoring double happened in the 7th inning, off Miguel Diaz. Davidson was signed by the Dodgers in the offseason as a non-roster invitee, with an invitation to camp. So far this spring, Davidson carries a 1.178 OPS. The 29-year-old has had an interesting career playing first base and third base; he's also served as a designated hitter, and has pitched in relief a handful of times. Davidson recently expressed his interest in potentially becoming a two-way player, which makes for some fun speculation as to what he can do for the Dodgers.

Chris Paddack threw two scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out one, in Saturday's win over the Dodgers, 2-1.

This is Paddack's second consecutive strong start of the spring; on March 1, he threw two hitless innings against the Cubs. Paddack's pitch mix continued to look effective against the Dodgers lineup in this abbreviated outing. The 25-year-old's 4.73 ERA belies his true potential; he spent this offseason increasing the spin rate on his fastball and should contribute to a strong bounce-back campaign in 2021.

Jo Adell hit a two-run blast, but the Angels still fell to the Rockies on Saturday, 8-2.

Adell's 2020 numbers may have been lackluster; he slashed .161/.212/.266 in 132 plate appearances over 38 games, but the 21-year-old should benefit well from a proper Spring Training. Angels manager Joe Maddon seems to think Adell might further benefit from some time in the minors, so if he doesn't make the opening day roster, chances are he'll be back sooner than later. Adell carries a .962 OPS so far this spring; plenty of upside still remains.

Jorge Lopez tossed three scoreless frames with one strikeout on Saturday against the Tigers.

Lopez, once the second-rated prospect for the Brewers back in 2017 according to Baseball America, now finds himself in his third organization fighting for a roster spot. The 28-year-old is no longer considered a prospect and is coming off a rough 2020 season when he posted a 6.34 ERA and 5.28 FIP over 38.1 innings. However, Lopez is out of options and may be an option for Orioles in the bullpen or as a spot starter this season.

Tarik Skubal tossed two scoreless frames Saturday, allowing one hit while striking out one against the Orioles.

Skubal's fastball touched 96 miles per hour, but the interesting thing is that he mixed in a handful of splitters. The 24-year-old has a strong track record in the minors, including a 17.43 K/9 at Double-A. However, the question has always been if Skubal could thrive at the major league level throwing so many four-seam fastballs. Over 32 innings in 2020 the left-hander carried a 5.63 ERA, 5.75 FIP, and a 10.41 K/9, so the addition of more weapons to his arsenal could be intriguing. Skubal will be an interesting player to watch this spring.

Chris Owings hit his first home run of the spring, helping the Rockies to an 8-2 win over the Angels on Saturday.

Owings drove in two runs total today; his other RBI came in the fourth inning, where he hit a sacrifice fly, driving Brendan Rodgers home. The versatile 29-year-old posted a respectable .757 OPS for the Rockies in 2020, and can fill in at a handful of positions. Owings, a non-roster invitee, has a strong shot at a utility job.

According to Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Odubel Herrera could have the inside track for the centerfield job in Philadelphia.

Phillies manager Joe Girardi said the decision would be strictly about baseball and not the public perception of Herrera playing for the Phillies 22 months after being arrested on a domestic violence charge. Girardi went on to say, "We’re not allowed to punish anyone more than what MLB did. If Odubel doesn’t make the team, it would be what we would consider probably a lack of performance." The 29-year-old is off to a hot start this spring going 4-for-9 with a home run and a stolen base. Herrera will continue to battle Roman Quinn, Adam Haseley, and Scott Kingery in Phillies camp for a spot on Opening Day.

This is Quintana's second consecutive strong outing: he tossed one scoreless inning against the Giants on February 28. The 33-year-old lefty pitched only 10 innings in 2020 due to injuries, and his 2019 numbers (4.68 ERA, 10.1 H/9 over 171 innings) may be worrisome, but a healthy Quintana will have some upside as a middle-rotation starter for the Angels.

Byron Buxton told reporters on Saturday that would like to sign an extension with the Twins and that there have been recent discussions with the team.

Dan Hayes of The Athletic confirmed the Twins recently approached Buxton’s representatives, according to his sources. It may be beneficial to find a middle ground for both sides in spring training as Buxton could command a large contract if he had a healthy and productive season. On the other hand, it may make sense for Buxton to take any long-term guarantees he can get due to his track record of being sidelined. The 27-year-old slashed .254/.267/.577 with 13 home runs and 27 RBIs in 2020 over 130 at-bats.
