There had been rumbling earlier in the day that the Kluber sweepstakes would reach a conclusion soon -- with the Yankees having been considered a team that was "definitely in" on him after his impressive workout on Wednesday. The deal is expected to be for one-year and $11 million. He'll also need to pass a physical before things become official. He'll help to solidify the Bomber's rotation behind Gerrit Cole.

Anderson, who was acquired from the Giants earlier this month, plans on debuting his newly-added splitter in Grapefruit League exhibition contests next week. The newest offering, which he picked up as a result of discussions with former teammate Kevin Gausman, will replace his previously ineffective changeup. The 26-year-old righty compiled a 3.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 18/12 K/BB ratio over 15 1/3 innings last season. The Twins have a crowded mix of relievers vying for a spot on the Opening Day roster, but Anderson is worth watching to see if his new pitch mix leads to a breakthrough this spring.

Gore registered three strikeouts and only allowed one baserunner against a loaded San Diego lineup. The 22-year-old southpaw is widely regarded as the top pitching prospect in the entire game, but Padres numerous high-profile offseason acquisitions -- Yu Darvish, Blake Snell and Joe Musgrove -- have effectively slammed the door on his hopes of making the team’s Opening Day starting rotation. Machado had the procedure in December after registering a career-best .304/.370/.580 triple-slash line with 16 round-trippers and six stolen bases across 254 plate appearances during the shortened 60-game season last year. He also finished third in National League MVP voting. The 28-year-old fantasy stalwart admitted to experiencing issues with his vision during night games the last few years and hopes that will be corrected moving forward. He remains the lynchpin of a loaded Padres’ lineup and will be an early-round selection in all fantasy formats this spring.

Scherzer has been slowed out of the gate in Nationals camp due to a strained ankle that he suffered during a workout earlier this month. Robert Murray of FanSided reports that the Royals and Hunter Dozier are in serious talks on a long-term contract extension.

After several inconsistent seasons, Dozier put it all together from an offensive standpoint in a breakthrough 2019 campaign in which he hit .278/.348/.522 with a career-high 26 round-trippers in 586 plate appearances. He got off to a late start due to COVID-19 and failed to re-discovered that elite form during the truncated 2020 season, slashing a disastrous .228/.344/.392 with only six homers in 186 plate appearances. He's slated to shift back to third base and should be in line for a huge bounce-back campaign. He won't hit free agency until after the 2024 campaign, but it makes sense for the two sides to explore a long-term deal now.

Corey Dickerson told the Miami Herald on Friday that several off-field issues contributed to his career-worst performance during the shortened 2020 campaign.

Dickerson divulged that his grandfather passed away during the regular season, while his father was also diagnosed with kidney cancer, in addition to the stress of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic last year. The 31-year-old veteran outfielder posted a career-low .713 OPS despite launching seven homers in 210 plate appearances. He’s entering the final year of his two-year deal with the Marlins and is projected to be their everyday left fielder this season.

Teheran claims that the lingering effects from COVID-19 impacted his mechanics during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, in which he posted an abysmal 10.05 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 20/16 K/BB ratio across 31 1/3 innings with the Angels, to the point that he began to feel soreness in his throwing shoulder. He's in camp with the Tigers on a minor-league deal and has a legitimate shot at securing a spot in their Opening Day rotation. If he's healthy, he's poised to rebound.

Barrera will go through the initial intake procedures before joining the team in camp. Castro played in just 16 games before undergoing season-ending surgery in August for a broken right wrist. The Nationals have plenty of moving parts in their lineup, but the 30-year-old veteran infielder is expected to serve as the team’s everyday second baseman this season. It's also worth noting that he clobbered a career-high 22 round-trippers in his last full season with the Marlins back in 2019. There's isn't a ton of upside here, but Castro is worthy of a late-round flier in deeper mixed leagues this spring.

The most logical candidate to occupy the Mariners’ designated hitter vacancy this season, France projects as the team’s long-term solution at the hot corner behind veteran Kyle Seager, who could become a free agent next offseason if the Mariners decline his team option for the 2022 campaign. It was a small sample size, but the 26-year-old slugger tore the cover off the ball, hitting .305/.368/.468 with four homers across 155 plate appearances between the Padres and Mariners last year. He’s worthy of a speculative late-round selection in all fantasy formats this spring.
