Brewers signed 3B/1B Zach Green to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Green did not appear in a meaningful game during the condensed 2020 campaign, but he put up an impressive .282/.380/.659 batting line with 25 home runs in 72 games with the Triple-A affiliate of the Giants in 2019. The 26-year-old corner infielder will presumably get a shot to compete for a spot on the Brewers' bench.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network believes that the Mets may turn to Justin Wilson after failing to sign Brad Hand.

The Mets were considered serious contenders -- at one point possibly the favorite -- to sign Hand at one point, but reports indicate that he'll be heading to Washington and the Nationals. Wilson appeared in 68 games over the last two years, and he registered a 2.91 ERA and 67/28 K/BB ratio in 58 2/3 innings. He'd be a bridge to Edwin Diaz if he did return to the Mets.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Nationals have signed Brad Hand to a one-year, $10.5 million contract.

As Passan points out in the tweet, he gets more than the $10 million option that Cleveland declined at the end of the 2020 season. Jesse Daugherty notes that the deal is pending a physical, and does not contain any options. The left-hander will serve as the stopper for the Nationals after leading MLB in saves in 2020 with 16, and he posted an excellent 2.05 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 29/4 K/BB ratio in his 22 innings over the truncated campaign. He'll be a strong fantasy option in 2021, and the most reliable closer that Washington has had in a while, with all due respect to the other options they've had.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants have interest in Eddie Rosario and Jackie Bradley Jr. as they seek outfield help.

Bradley makes more sense positionally since the Giants could use a center fielder more than corner outfielder. However, Rosario would offer more offensive potential for a club that could use some more thump in their lineup. The Mets, Phillies, Red Sox, Astros and Rockies have been connected to Bradley, while the Red Sox and Marlins are reportedly interested in Rosario.

Braves re-signed INF Pablo Sandoval to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network says that Sandoval will receive a $1 million salary if in the majors. The 34-year-old finished last season with the Braves after spending most of it with the Giants. He was useful in 2019, but if Sandoval winds up playing much in 2021 it's probably not a good sign for the Braves.

Yankees acquired RHP Jameson Taillon from the Pirates for RHPs Miguel Yajure and Roansy Contreras, OF Canaan Smith and INF Maikol Escotto.

Of the four, Yajure was ranked the highest by MLB.com as the Yanks' No. 15 prospect, so this is definitely a quantity over quality haul for the Pirates. As far as Taillon goes, he hasn't made a start since May of 2019 as he recovers from his second Tommy John surgery. However, while he certainly comes with some health risk, Taillon was, at minimum, a nice mid-rotation starter before getting hurt. He'll also make just $2.25 million in 2021 and is under team control through 2022. Pitching at Yankee Stadium and in the AL East is a tall task, but Taillon will have a dynamic offense backing him.

Scott Mitchell of TSN reports that the Blue Jays have discussed a potential trade with the Cubs involving Kris Bryant and Kyle Hendricks.

Mitchell was responding to a question on Twitter asking whether there was any truth to the rumor that the Jays had talked with the Cubs about a deal for both players, and he answered in the affirmative. What we don't know is whether the discussions were just preliminary or if they've gone any deeper. Bryant is a shoo-in to be traded, whether it's before Opening Day or at the deadline. Hendricks, though, is on a pretty team-friendly contract and the Cubs' rotation depth is already paper-thin, so it's unclear how much of an appetite the club would have to trade him.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that there's "no evidence" the Yankees are interested in Yasiel Puig.

Puig has been connected to the Yanks a couple times this offseason, including on Saturday by Jim Bowden of The Athletic. However, the fit doesn't really make sense since the club is already loaded with right-handed hitting outfielders. The Bombers are looking for a left-handed hitting outfielder, and a reunion with Brett Gardner would seem to be the likeliest scenario.
