According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Clippers are viewed as a "strong contender" to sign Nicolas Batum after he clears waivers next week.

Batum, who picked up his $27.1 million option earlier this month, will be waived by the Hornets in the very near future according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The veteran wing won't lack for suitors once he clears waivers due to what he can bring to the table defensively, and the Clippers are among those said to be interested. Batum may be able to offer some value fantasy-wise as a 3-and-D wing if he lands with the Clippers, but that would be a case of him having more value to the team rotation than he would a fantasy roster.

The Rockets had so many players either tied up in a pending trade or injured that Saturday's game was in question until a trade was completed to make former Nets forward Rodions Kurucs available for Houston. Sterling Brown, who was a game-time decision due to a lower leg injury, is officially out, meaning Houston has exactly the required eight players to play. Jones might be a good DFS play, but he's a rookie who's played just 36 career minutes, totalling 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one steal and four turnovers across four games. Look for Tate, Tucker, McLemore and Wood to jack up shots in what could be a clunky Rockets game.

The Rockets are missing the bulk of their team due to a pending trade involving James Harden, and injuries to John Wall, Eric Gordon and DeMarcus Cousins. If Brown can't give it a go, the Rockets would be down to seven players, and wouldn't have enough to play. “My elbow bothers me on every (shot)," Murray said. "I got a bruise there. Every game I seem to hit it or kinda tweak it again.” This explains a lot for Murray, one of the world's best shooters who has made just 15 out of his last 38 shots from the field. He's relatively underwhelmed for much of the season considering the leap most expected him to take after a hot run in the bubble. Look to see if Mike Malone chooses to rest him at some point to get his elbow fully right. Otherwise, he could continue to be a shell of himself on the floor.

MPJ has been out for over a week now after testing positive for COVID-19, so it's a great sign for fantasy managers that he is nearing a return.
