A rumor out of the KHL has Salavat Yualaev Ufa starting negotiations with Maple Leafs first round draft pick Rodion Amirov.

The rumor has the Russian side looking for a two-year deal which if Amirov signs, would keep him in the KHL until April 2023, unless there is a clause in the contract allowing him to go to the NHL. Amirov just returned from the Karjala Cup where he led all scorers in the three-game tournament with three goals. The Maple Leafs are high on Amirov who should be displaying his talents for Russia during the upcoming World Junior Championship in Edmonton which is scheduled to start on Christmas Day.
