Julio Urias allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings with three strikeouts in a victory over the Padres on Thursday.
Urias got 11 runs of support on Thursday, but he only needed three of them. The southpaw got off to a rough start by allowing a pair of homers in the first, but didn’t give up anything from that point on in a very solid start from the 24-year-old (it was his birthday on Wednesday). In 21 1/3 innings, he now has an ERA of 2.53 with a 13/6 K/BB ratio. Urias has a friendly matchup with the Mariners scheduled next.

Corey Seager hit a two-run homer on Thursday in a blowout win over the Padres.
Seager had been out of the lineup since Friday with lower back tightness, but showed that it wasn't bugging him with a two-run shot in the first off of Chris Paddack. The shortstop has hit four homers with nine RBI in 54 at-bats, and his OPS is now up to a rather healthy 1.020.

Rockies acquired RHP Chad Smith from the Marlins in exchange for RHP Jesus Tinoco.
Smith was an 11th round pick by the Marlins out of Mississippi in 2016. The right-hander reached Double-A last year and appeared in 34 games last season at the High-A and Double-A levels while posting a 46/24 K/BB ratio over 41 2/3 innings. He projects as a low-leverage reliever at the highest level.

J. Tinoco - RP
Marlins acquired RHP Jesus Tinoco from the Rockies for Chad Smith.
Tinoco will report to the alternate training site, so he won't be added to the active roster right away. The right-hander had yet to make an appearance for the Rockies this year, but appeared in 24 games for Colorado with a 4.75 ERA the previous season. The 25-year-old figures to join the Marlins' bullpen before the end of this 2020 campaign.

T. Richards - SP
Trevor Richards will get the start on Friday against the Blue Jays.
The right-hander will be on the bump, but likely will only go through the first part of the lineup -- at most -- so he's unlikely to qualify for a victory even if he leaves with a lead.

J. Smoak - 1B
Justin Smoak went 2-for-4 with a homer, double and two RBI in a loss to the Cubs on Saturday.
Smoak apparently had no interest in seeing Yu Darvish throw a no-no, as he took the right-hander deep in the seventh inning with one out to erase the no-hitter and the shutout. He added an RBI double in the ninth for his sixth of the season. The homer is just the second of the year for Smoak, and he's still hitting just .214/.250/.393 on the young year.

Kyle Schwarber hit a solo homer in a win over the Brewers on Thursday.
Schwarber extended the Cubs' lead to 2-0 in the second with a long-ball off of Chase Anderson. That gives the left-handed hitter three round-trippers on the season, and he's driven in seven. Schwarber dealt with a knee contusion earlier in the week, but it didn't seem to bother him on that swing.
