2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Bobby Miller won't be sneaking up on anyone in 2024, that's for sure. Upon his promotion to the big-league club, Miller posted a 3.76 ERA (3.51 FIP), 1.10 WHIP and 17.2% K-BB% across 22 starts. His Statcast page is littered with red, which is great, indicating he ranked pretty high in many statistical categories. He posted an 80th percentile walk rate, 81st percentile xERA, 76th percentile ground ball rate, and 98th percentile fastball velocity. His repertoire runs five pitches deep, and three of his pitches posted a whiff rate of at least 29 percent, with his curveball and changeup both exceeding 36 percent! Despite the postseason stats, he ended the year on an impressive run, posting a 3.36 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over his final 80.1 IP of the year.

2024 Outlook: He boasts excellent command and should flirt with an even 9.0 K/9 this season, if not exceed it. The likely six-man rotation the Dodgers use could help sustain Miller for a full season, as the Dodgers likely protect him around 150-160 IP. However, he's a really talented young arm that could take a big step forward in 2024, something to the tune of 13-15 wins, a sub-3.50 ERA and a WHIP at or below 1.20. There are many reasons to be very bullish on him this season, and he's an ideal SP3, but could perform as an SP2 if things break his way.
