2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Amaya is still incredibly young, but he was able to log some time with the Cubs last year, slashing .214/.329/.359 with five home runs across 53 games. His raw power is arguably his best trait from his prospect grades, and we've seen solid slugging numbers from him at various stops in the minors.

2024 Outlook: It's not a massive sample size yet, but some of the early returns are encouraging, and he should get better the more comfortable he gets. He'll serve as the team's backup catcher this year, and he can learn behind a veteran in Yan Gomes. Amaya will be an intriguing pickup if he ascends into the starting role, as his bat can pack quite a punch, but the path to a starting role is blocked by the aforementioned veteran to begin the 2024 campaign.
