2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: His first full season in the majors saw Gore put up 136.1 IP and a very solid 9.97 K/9. The issues arise when we look at ERA (4.42), FIP (4.89), HR/9 (1.78), WHIP (1.40), and BAA (.256). Not only that but he also allowed the highest Brl% (12.1) of any pitcher in 2023 with at least 130 innings pitched. In fact, when looking at the 199 pitchers who threw at least 70 innings, only Michael Kopech had a higher barrel rate (12.7-percent). Oof.

2024 Outlook: Gore is still young, being 25 for the whole of the 2024 season, so there’s room for improvement. That being said, he’ll need to be better about missing barrels and bats in general to get his numbers to improve from ratios to results. The strikeouts should remain but unless there’s gains elsewhere, they’ll be out shadowed.
