2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Since throwing 226 innings between the regular season and postseason in 2021, Buehler logged just 65 innings in 2022, and then didn’t pitch at all in the majors last season. He’ll be returning from his second Tommy John surgery now, and he’s far from a guarantee to return to the 2021 version of himself. Even that year, a .247 BABIP helped him out, and his peripherals had his ERA north of three, rather than being sub-2.50.

2024 Outlook: The Dodgers will employ a six-man rotation, so maybe that can help Buehler a bit, but the Dodgers will likely be cautious with him, especially since they have World Series aspirations on the mind, and Buehler in October is more important than Buehler in March, April, May, etc. With the team already announcing that he won't open the year in the rotation, he's an easy fade at his current ADP. At the end of the day, there are more questions than answers regarding his workload in 2024 and how he'll fare in his return from his second Tommy John surgery.
