2023 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Matt Manning, who only threw 78 innings in 2023 due to injury, was the starter in the first combined no-hitter in Tigers history, pitching 6 2/3 perfect innings, and he came out with a 3.58 ERA/1.04 WHIP on the year.
2024 Outlook: Despite the fact that he has yet to pitch a full big-league season, Manning has accumulated 45 starts over parts of the last three seasons, and struck out 16.1% of batters over those starts, well below average in the 2020s. But he also walks fewer batters than average, and his walk rate has gone down in every season he has played to where it was 6.6 % in 2023. Matt Manning enters this season with an all-but-guaranteed spot in the rotation but after that is a big question mark.
