2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: We finally saw Olivares get some extended playing time last year, and in 107 games, not only did he hit .263 with a .452 SLG, but he swatted 12 home runs, 23 doubles, and swiped 11 bags. He's shown an ability to handle both lefties and righties, and he's a fairly toolsy player, as there's some pop in his bat and he posted an 83rd percentile sprint speed last season.

2024 Outlook: Like in Kansas City the last few years, Olivares doesn't have a clear path to regular at-bats with his new club. That's not to say that he can't get there, but there's really only one opening in the outfield, and Joshua Palacios seems likely to get the first crack. Should Olivares slide into a starting spot, and maybe even stay in the zone a bit more, there's some interesting fantasy appeal with Olivares in this Pittsburgh lineup.
