The FanDuel main slate starts at 6 pm while the DraftKings slate starts at 3 pm. Will be covering the FD main slate since we can get correlation there for DK.

Dallas Stars at Nashville Predators

The Stars took a 1-0 series lead the other night and will look to continue that success against a Nashville team who is struggling on offense. Over the past month, the Predators are scoring only 2.5 goals per game, which is the worst of any team in action tonight. That is also a 14% decrease in goals compared to the month prior, which is also the worst on the slate. This should put Stars’ goalie Ben Bishop in a great spot to potentially come away with the win while limiting the goals against. The Nashville defense has also been actually very bad over the last month with a 51 Corsi Against, which is a 16% increase in shot attempts allowed compared to the month prior. The Stars might be one of the better options on this slate considering how bad Nashville has been.

Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Alexander Radulov, and John Klingberg lead the way for the Stars, who are all actually very reasonably priced compared to other top power-play units on this slate. Mats Zuccarello is on the second forward line and the first power-play, also making him a top option. Miro Heiskanen chipped in with two points in their Game 1 victory and is on the second power-play unit with Esa Lindell, Roope Hintz, and Radek Faksa.

With the Predators being so bad on offense lately, it’s truly hard to trust them tonight. They have just one skater over $6K on DraftKings tonight, which means they offer a ton of salary relief and could really be paired with any other team. Take the savings on Nashville, hope they score goals and then pair them with the Bruins, Flames, etc. If you need the Predators forwards, Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, Ryan Johansen are the top line and truly the best options they have. Add in Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, or P.K. Subban on defense.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston Bruins

The Maple Leafs were another road team who took the victory in Game 1, so we should be looking at the Bruins to bounce back in a big way tonight to avoid going down 0-2. Boston is truly one of the better teams in the league, they just need to show that over an opponent they beat three out of four times this season. We know that Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak lead the way for the Bruins, but they all had average to below average Game 1’s. I think we can trust the Bruins top line to get things going again tonight and post multiple points. Add Torey Krug into the mix as the defender and we have a solid stack. Jake DeBrusk is dealing with an injury and is a game-time decision tonight. He is on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, but no indication of who would take his spot if he is out. Tuukka Rask should be a good option in net with 29 saves in Game 1 but wasn’t able to get the win.

For the Maple Leafs, it’s the same story we’ve known all season long. Expensive top few lines, with great power-play upside. Mitch Marner is looking great so far and can always reach value on his own. Auston Matthews had a very quiet Game 1 with only three shots and no points. John Tavares had two points and six shots in Game 1, which was awesome and should see that shot volume today, but maybe not two points. Morgan Rielly, William Nylander, Nazem Kadri, Kasperi Kapanen, and Patrick Marleau are fine as secondary options but would prefer home team’s second units on this slate.

Colorado Avalanche at Calgary Flames

The last game on the slate has Colorado looking to tie the series up after they were shutout in Game 1. Mike Smith was the goalie for the Flames in Game 1 and posted a 26 save shutout. That is not out of the question tonight since the Avalanche come in with an expected Corsi For set at 42.4, which is the lowest on the slate. Do fully expect that to happen? No, but Smith is still in line to come away with the win as a -240 home favorite, which is the largest favorite on the slate. Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Mark Giordano still make one of the best stacks you can have on a three-game slate since their multi-point upside is immense and can come quickly. The Flames have plenty of depth options with Matthew Tkachuk, not really depth just not on the first forward line. Mikael Backlund, Michael Frolik. Derek Ryan and James Neal are on the second power-play unit with Backlund and T.J. Brodie on defense, who all bring some decent savings.

On the other side, the Avalanche couldn’t get anything working in Game 1, and honestly, a bit worried some of these players will be able to reach fantasy value given some of their salaries today. Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen have seen their prices come down a bit, but the Flames defense is just so good, that they are clearly a GPP option only. I truly don’t see much value in going to the Avalanche second units, since the Bruins and Maple Leafs have better players at those same price points.
