Colorado Avalanche @ Philadelphia Flyers

Every game has an over-under set at six goals tonight, so we could be in for plenty of scoring and this is a great spot to target. The Flyers will have Brian Elliott in net tonight, who has been very shaky, so you want to stack against him when you can. He has allowed 21 goals in just six games, which is over three goals per game, aka not good. The Avalanche top line is always dangerous with Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Gabriel Landeskog who are also on the top power-play unit together. They are expensive, but they look to be a nice pivot off of the Jets and the Capitals who should be a bit more popular tonight. In this spot, the Avalanche are mainly a GPP option for me tonight and not really for cash games. If I’m going here, it’s a stack or stay away situation. Full power-play stack or nothing.

For the Flyers, they have been inconsistent this season and are now facing a tougher goalie in Semyon Varlamov, who has only given up nine goals in five games. The Flyers are still at home, still, the money line favorites and have an implied goal at 3.15. You still want exposure to them and they have plenty of players to pick from. Wayne Simmonds is now up on the first forward line and is still a bit too cheap and he is also on the first power-play unit. Claude Giroux has five points in his last three games and is taking over three shots per game. Shayne Gostisbehere isn’t producing in his last few games, but still on the top power-play unit and makes a nice addition to the stack.

Carolina Hurricanes @ Detroit Red Wings

The Hurricanes actually look pretty good to start the season and are averaging over three goals per game. They find themselves in a great spot tonight, up against the Red Wings who are giving up over four goals per game. The Hurricanes are just a bit cheaper compared to some of the top teams and come in with an expected Corsi For sitting at 49.3, which is highest on the slate. Love the power-play stack for them with Sebastian Aho, Jordan Staal, Teuvo Teravainen, and Justin Faulk. The savings can go a long way on a four-game slate, so you should be looking at some of these players in your core, due to their matchup and prices.

For the Red Wings, listen, they are bad OK? They are scoring barely over two goals per game and come in with an implied goal total set at 2.67 which is lowest on the slate. The Red Wings also have the lowest expected Corsi For set at 41.6 tonight. If you are going to the Red Wings tonight, it’s simply for the fact to go for low ownership and being contrarian in tournaments. That’s not my cup of tea and I want players and teams who have a higher projected outcome.

St. Louis Blues @ Winnipeg Jets

The Jets are the largest home favorites on the slate tonight at -150 and will have Connor Hellebuyck in net tonight. Hellebuyck has three wins in six starts this season and has given up only one goal in each of his three wins, but three goals or more in his three losses. The range of outcomes for him has been vast this season but the matchup for him tonight is great vs the Blues, who are dead last in the Central Division right now. Love the Jets tonight for all aspects tonight, cash and GPPs. Mark Scheifele, Patrik Laine, Blake Wheeler, and Kyle Connor are my favorite stack of the night and I will be making it a point to get them in as a full stack tonight. Josh Morrissey is up on the top power-play unit and isn’t that expensive across the industry, so he should be a core play tonight.

The Blues have been very disappointing to start the season so far and make a tough pick to roster tonight. They are the largest road underdogs tonight and come in with an implied goal total set at 2.73, which is the second lowest on the slate. They are certainly not in cash game consideration but if you are looking for a one-off in tournaments, you can never go wrong with Vladimir Tarasenko, who has multi-point potential any night. The Blues will likely lose this game and it won’t be pretty.

Washington Capitals @ Vancouver Canucks

The Capitals are -148 favorites on the road and have an implied goal total set at 3.26 and will be facing off against a Vancouver team who is actually decent? Well, the Canucks are off to a good start this season but are still very young overall and have a lot of growing to do as a team. Since the Capitals season opener where Braden Holtby had a shutout, he has given up three or more goals in four of his five starts. He is not someone I’m targeting tonight and like this spot as a game stack. The Capitals are giving up four goals per game and we know they can score at that same rate with their offense.

If you are targeting the Capitals, they have very clear options for offensive upside with Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom, Alex Ovechkin, T.J Oshie, and John Carlson. Simply put, if you have the salary for them, jam them into your lineups. If you want to stack up the Canucks, which is a good idea, you should be sticking to their top power-play unit. Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat, Sven Baertschi, Alexander Edler is the stack you should be focusing on with Edler in play for cash games.
