New York Rangers @ Washington Capitals

This classic Metropolitan division rivalry will have another installment tonight, where we have one clear favorite. That favorite is none other than the defending Stanley Cup Champions Washington Capitals who are -260 favorites at home. This game is the tale of two different sides with the Capitals having the highest implied goal total set at 3.76, while the Rangers are the lowest on the slate at 2.24. This means the Caps are the chalk option, while the Rangers are the clear contrarian option on this slate.

The Rangers played last night, so we likely won’t see Henrik Lundqvist in net, which means Alexandar Georgiev should be getting the start, but not yet confirmed. Braden Holtby is likely to be in net for the Caps, but also not confirmed.

If you are playing cash or GPPs tonight, the Capitals are the way to go and they have plenty of options across their top few lines. Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom, Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie, Jakub Vrana, and John Carlson make up the majority of their first two forward lines and power-play units. They are expensive Love all of the options tonight, really just a matter of how much salary you have to spend.

On the Rangers side of things, as I mentioned, they are GPP option only and I wouldn’t go beyond their top lines since they have been the most consistent so far this season. Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Fast, and Brady Skjei.

St. Louis Blues @ Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens are off to a solid start this season, while the Blues are not. We could see plenty of scoring in this game, so I like this spot for both teams, not so much the goalies. Carey Price is confirmed for the Canadiens and Jake Allen is likely, but not yet confirmed.

The Blues have an implied total set at 2.82, which is solid but they haven’t shown too much offensive upside in their first five games. Vladimir Tarasenko is someone who is always in play for me with him being on the top forward line and top power-play unit. Ryan O'Reilly is also up on those top units, which should make him a nice pairing tonight and add Pat Maroon to round out the stack. Vince Dunn offers some nice savings and is also on the top power-play unit.

For the Canadiens, they are getting scoring from a number of different players which is great for real hockey but can make it tough to nail down who will be doing the scoring on any given night. Tomas Tatar, Paul Byron, Brenden Gallagher, Jonathan Drouin, and Charles Hudon all have multiple goals so far this season, with another four players having one goal. Stick to the first power-play of Tatar, Gallagher, Drouin, and Petry on defense.

Boston Bruins @ Calgary Flames

This game has an over-under set at six, so we should be seeing some scoring here. The Flames have an implied goal total set at 3.07, with the Bruins implied total set at 2.93. Love the offensive options on each and will be staying away from the goalies in all formats.

The Bruins top line is very expensive but very powerful on offense. Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, and Matt Grzelcyk make up an amazing power-play unit, which you want exposure to tonight. They are up against Mike Smith who has allowed four or more goals in three of his fours tarts this season, yikes. Plays the Bruins tonight.

For the Flames, really like their top line as well, since Tuukka Rask has given up 10 goals in three games. The Flames seem to be much better at home and their top line should be able to avoid the Bergeron line. Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Elias Lindholm, and Mark Giordano are the first power-play for the Flames, which is where I would want to go, but more for GPPs tonight.

New York Islanders @ Anaheim Ducks

This game has the least fantasy value in my opinion, but you should be looking here for the goalie you want. That goalie is John Gibson for the Ducks who comes in as a -153 favorite and up against the Islanders who have an implied goal total set at 2.48, which is the second lowest on the slate. Gibson is just, just slightly cheaper compared to Braden Holtby, so I like him for cash games tonight. The Ducks are a very solid defensive team, which is why the Islanders are set to be so limited on offense tonight and purely a GPP option tonight. The Ducks are also a bit injured on offense right now, so they are also limited with their upside. The Islanders have only allowed 10 goals in four games this season, so looking a bit better on defense compared to where they were last season. This could be a 2-1 game, which is truly bad for NHL DFS. I’ll roll with Gibson and have limited exposure elsewhere.
