San Diego Padres at Cincinnati Reds

This game features Luis Castillo on the mound for the Reds, who should make one of the most popular options on the slate, due to the face he is up against the Padres, who have a 25.8% strikeout rate vs right-handed pitchers. This is a very favorable hitter’s and Castillo has shown he can get hit hard, as he has given up five earned runs in two starts in his last four outings. Eric Lauer is pitching for the Padres and should be an avoid, as he has given up three or more earned runs in three of his four starts. Go for the hitters here if you are not rostering Castillo, as this is a positive park shift for the Padres.

Chicago Cubs at Washington Nationals

Stephen Strasburg has looked good in his last two starts, with 12 strikeouts and only four earned runs. He is up against an always dangerous Cubs lineups, so for me, he is a GPP option only. Kyle Hendricks is on the mound for the Cubs, but he isn’t a big strikeout pitcher, with only a 19.9% K rate. But with that lower strikeout rate, Hendricks has a 47% ground ball rate and a 29% hard contact rate. He can often limit the damage, but won’t have massive ceiling games, since the points are limited with the lack of strikeouts. I like both offenses in this game, so if you aren’t going to the pitchers, the over-under set at 8.5 should be very interesting.

Cleveland Indians at Toronto Blue Jays

This is the game where most of the offensive ownership will be concentrated, as the Indians come in with an implied total set at 4.83. Sam Gaviglio is on the mound for the Blue Jays, who has given up four or more earned runs in two of his last three starts and is coming off the DL. The question is how many Indian hitters you can fit into your lineup since there is a lack of value options on the board. You can try and differentiate a bit and do a wraparound stack with the bottom of their lineup. If you want to stack Cleveland, try to be different, which will help in tournaments but fading some of the top options. Shane Bieber pitching for the Indians tonight makes a solid option, who isn’t too expensive and comes in with a 24% strikeout rate.

Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks

Zack Greinke is on the mound for the Diamondbacks tonight and he should be the chalkiest pitcher on the slate, simply for the fact he is the best pitcher available. The matchup for him is decent, but not great, as he is up against a dangerous Braves team, who only strikeout 20.4% of the time vs right-handed pitchers. Anibal Sánchez is on the mound for the Braves and he comes in giving up a 41% fly ball rate to right-handed hitters this season, so there is certainly some home run upside for them here. That should make them a nice stacking option tonight, which will get you away from the ownership on the Indians and the Cubs/Nationals game.
