The reigning NHL scoring champion and league MVP plays right wing: Chicago superstar Patrick Kane. Beyond him, however, there seems to be a bit of a drop-off at the position. That said, Kane is currently continuing a long-standing NHL tradition of right wing dominance: from Maurice Richard to Gordie Howe, to Guy Lafleur, Mike Bossy and Jaromir Jagr. There may be a few more Art Ross trophies in Kane's future. Here is the full list of top-20 fantasy right-wingers heading into '16-17:

1. Patrick Kane, Blackhawks

He will have plenty of competition for the scoring crown this season--Sidney Crosby, Johnny Gaudreau, Evgeni Malkin, Jamie Benn, John Tavares, Erik Karlsson et al--but it is hard to bet against Kane at this point.

2. Nikita Kucherov, Lightning

The slick Russian is an impressive talent who will only get better as he continues to mature and gain more NHL experience. Kucherov hit the 30-goal plateau last season and might have 50 goals in him--one day.

3. Joe Pavelski (RW/C), Sharks

Pavelski deserves a ton of credit for continuing to produce consistent offense for the Sharks, while clearly becoming the undisputed team leader. The 32-year-old should have a few more stellar seasons left.

4. Jordan Eberle, Oilers

Fantasy leaguers have been waiting for awhile to see Eberle revert back to his 2011-12 form (76 points), and he showed flashes of his old self last season. If he plays the full '16-17 campaign next to Connor McDavid, look out!

5. Corey Perry, Ducks

The last time Randy Carlyle coached the Ducks for a full NHL season, Perry earned his first (and only) Hart trophy as the league MVP. Don't expect the same result but the veteran winger should improve production.

6. Jakub Voracek (RW/LW), Flyers

Big, talented Voracek came crashing back down to earth last season after challenging for the scoring title in 2014-15 (81 points). The key to a bounce-back effort for the charismatic Czech is more goals in 2016-17.

7. Phil Kessel, Penguins

The consistent sniper was fantastic during Pittsburgh's run to the Stanley Cup last spring, but hand surgery places his '16-17 debut in doubt. Kessel would be listed higher if he played with Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin.

8. Blake Wheeler, Jets

Surprisingly, only Patrick Kane registered more NHL points from the right wing position than the big speedster last season. Now the team captain, Wheeler should continue to provide consistent fantasy production.

9. Jaromir Jagr, Panthers

Incredibly, Jagr placed in a tie for 21st in NHL scoring last season--at age 44! He led the Panthers in points and was second in goals (he tied for second in assists). Is there anything the future Hall-of-Famer cannot do?

10. Loui Eriksson (RW/LW), Canucks

How does a player match expectations following an excellent campaign in a contract year? Join forces with the Sedin twins! Eriksson knows his Swedish countrymen well and should be a perfect fit on Vancouver's top line.

11. Mark Stone, Senators

Stone is a productive, consistent performer for Ottawa. He excels at creating neutral-zone turnovers and is deadly from in close. The 24-year-old should be good for another 60-plus points, which would be three in a row.

12. Jonathan Drouin (RW/LW), Lightning

All of his issues with Lightning management are likely over after a scintillating performance (14 points in 17 games) in the Stanley Cup playoffs last spring. Whether he plays right or left wing, Drouin needs to be drafted.

13. Brendan Gallagher, Canadiens

He was on his way to a career season in 2015-16 but missed 29 games due to injury. Assuming good health this season, Gallagher could be primed for big fantasy numbers. He is one of Montreal's best draft bets.

14. Tyler Toffoli, Kings

The Kings don't have a lot of natural goal-scorers on their roster but Toffoli certainly qualifies as one. He led the team with 31 goals last season and placed third in points. Toffoli could be special with more assists.

15. James Neal, Predators

Was Neal's 40-goal campaign with Pittsburgh in 2011-12 a fluke, or can he do it again? The answer may be revealed in 2016-17, as Nashville has added supreme playmaking defenseman P.K. Subban. He should help.

16. Kyle Palmieri, Devils

The Devils proved to be a perfect fit for Palmieri last season, as he led the club with 57 points and tied for the team lead in goals with 30. The arrival of Taylor Hall should help him even more. He is a solid fantasy option.

17. Kyle Okposo, Sabres

After nine professional campaigns in the Islanders organization, Okposo has moved on. With the Sabres, he should play a complementary, leadership role. Another season of 60-65 points should be in the offing.

18. Mats Zuccarello, Rangers

The Rangers have added several young wingers, including Russian rookie Pavel Buchnevich and NCAA star Jimmy Vesey, but Zuccarello should remain an important cog in the New York offense. He is steady.

19. Bobby Ryan, Senators

Ryan's fantasy stock has dropped since leaving Anaheim in 2013, but he still has his moments. While he has been surpassed by Mark Stone on the right wing depth chart, Ryan is still young enough to reestablish himself.

20. Sam Reinhart (RW/C), Sabres

A natural playmaking center, Reinhart has been forced to the wing in Buffalo due to the presence of Ryan O'Reilly and Jack Eichel down the middle. It has not stopped Reinhart from becoming a dangerous threat.
