With a week’s worth of data under our belts, I can’t wait to attack Monkey Knife Fight’s props for Thursday night. We went 1-2 with last week’s picks, which I thought was okay considering the game played out so much different than expected. I’m not actually sure what I expected, but I didn’t expect a 10-3 game in which neither team could really move the ball on offense. Even so, we got 19 receptions from Davante Adams, Allen Robinson and Tarik Cohen, to go well over the 15.5 we needed. Adams, Aaron Jones and David Montgomery fell well short of 46.5 fantasy points, and while the Under on Mitchell Trubisky was correct, we needed to go under on Aaron Rodgers as well.

This week we’re playing three games again. Once again, we’re playing Over/Under with the two quarterbacks. However, this week we’re going to give two new games a try. In Touchdown Dance, we’ll pick three players to get more than 1.5 touchdowns. In RapidFire, we’ll choose the higher end of two different props

Touchdown Dance

Christian McCaffrey, Mike Evans and O.J. Howard over 1.5 touchdowns

McCaffrey did everything in Week 1, including score two touchdowns. He had at least one touchdown in both games against the Bucs last year, and I’d be pretty surprised if he didn’t get at least one. Evans had eight touchdowns last season, and I expect him to bounce back from the illness that slowed him down in Week 1. The third player is tricky, and I think Ronald Jones, D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel are all in play. I’m not quite ready to trust Jones, so Howard gets the nod.

Over Under

Jameis Winston 280.5 Passing Yards: UNDER

Winston was probably the worst quarterback in the league in Week 1, finishing with 194 yards on 36 attempts. Carolina’s defense looked good in Week 1, holding Jared Goff to 186 passing yards on 39 attempts. This offense could certainly look better if Mike Evans is over his illness, but I’m not betting on it, especially in a short week.

Cam Newton 259.5 Passing Yards: OVER

If Jameis Winston had the worst week of any quarterback in Week 1, Cam Newton may have had the second-worst. Newton threw 38 times for 239 yards against the Rams, but he should have an easier time against the Bucs defense. I think Cam should be fine throwing the football, and while I am concerned the Panthers could get up big and not have to throw, I feel pretty confident Cam will have at least 21 more passing yards than in Week 1.

RapidFire

Passing Yards: Jameis Winston vs. Cam Newton +21.5

Receptions: Christian McCaffrey vs. Mike Evans +1.5

I’m picking Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey. If I’m picking Cam to go over 259.5 passing yards and Winston to go under 280.5 passing yards, then this is an easy call.

McCaffrey had 10 receptions in Week 1, and he averaged 6.7 receptions per game in 2018. McCaffrey averaged 7.0 receptions in two games against Tampa Bay last season. For as good as Evans is, he’s never averaged more than six receptions per game in his career. He had five receptions in two games against Carolina last season.
