Philadelphia 76ers @ Brooklyn Nets

PHI -4.5

76ers

Philadelphia is still looking for its first road win, but they still come into this game as favorites. Joel Embiid is coming off his seventh 30+ point double-double this season, including three-in-a-row. Ben Simmons failed to score in double-digits for the first time this season on Saturday, but he made up for it with a season-high five steals. Markelle Fultz is coming off of his lowest-scoring game of the season as well, as he managed just four points in 23 minutes against Detroit.

Nets

Jarrett Allen has been good all season for Brooklyn, but he will face one of his toughest tests of the season against Joel Embiid . Allen recorded four blocks in each of the first two games of the season, but he hasn’t topped two blocks in any game since. The real revelation for Brooklyn has been Caris LeVert , who is averaging 20.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals this season. He has picked up the slack for Rondae-Hollis Jefferson, who missed the first three games of the season and is averaging just 20.8 MPG. Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 30.0 minutes over the last two games, and he appears to have taken some minutes from D’Angelo Russell, at least for the time being.

New York Knicks @ Washington Wizards

WAS -6.5

New York

The Island of Misfit Toys has been surprisingly not terrible this season. Damyean Dotson has come out of nowhere to be a solid NBA player, and the Knicks have gotten contributions from Noah Vonleh , Mitchell Robinson , Allonzo Trier and Mario Hezonja . Enes Kanter and Tim Hardaway Jr. have been the Knicks’ most consistent offensive players, though Kanter still doesn’t play any defense.

Wizards

Washington is no stranger to slow starts, but it is fair to wonder if this is finally the year they blow up the roster. John Wall is one of the most consistent players in the NBA statistically, though it hasn’t led to any wins. Surprisingly enough, the additions of Jeff Green and Austin Rivers haven’t done anything to help one of the worst bench units in the NBA. Dwight Howard made his season debut Friday, and at least for one day, he was exceptionally efficient, scoring 20 points (7-8 FG) in 23 minutes. Howard apparently isn’t on a minutes restriction, so it will be interesting to see if his play Friday earned him more playing time.

Orlando @ San Antonio

SAS -8

Magic

Jonathan Isaac and Jonathon Simmons are both questionable for this game, and Orlando’s rotation obviously looks drastically different if they are out. Evan Fournier is averaging 25.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists and 31.0 minutes in the two games Simmons has missed this season. Aaron Gordon , who played just 24 minutes in Orlando’s last game, could see upwards of 35 minutes if Isaac is out. Even if Gordon’s minutes don’t increase, he could spend more time at the 4, which would probably help his production.

Spurs

The Spurs are currently on pace for the lowest turnover rate in NBA history, which is especially impressive considering three of their point guards have been out all season with injuries. Of course, DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge have the ball in their hands more often than not, and neither turns the ball over much at all. DeRozan is averaging 2.1 turnovers and 6.9 assists per game; the latter is a career-high. The Spurs have also gotten significant contributions from Rudy Gay , Bryn Forbes and Marco Belinelli . All three are averaging more than 11 points per game. With Gay out, Dante Cunningham becomes a punt play, especially for cash lineups.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Phoenix Suns

Total: 211

MEM -4

Grizzlies

Mike Conley is coming off a season-high 28 points Friday in a win against the Jazz. The Grizzlies are averaging 10.6 steals per game this season, second only to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They also have a +5 turnover ratio, the best in the NBA. Garrett Temple has been Memphis’s third best player of late, averaging 15.7 points and 4.7 rebounds over the last three games.

Suns

Phoenix is allowing its opponents to shoot 51.1 percent from the field this season, second worst in the NBA. Devin Booker had 18 points Friday in his first game back from a hamstring strain, and he has a chance to be significantly better in his second game back. Point guard Isaiah Canaan was even better Friday, scoring 19 points in his return from an ankle injury. Rookie center Deandre Ayton has five double-doubles through eight games. His 88 rebounds in that span are the most by a rookie since Dwight Howard in 2004. T.J. Warren is probable after experiencing back spasms Saturday. Josh Jackson would likely see increased playing time if Warren cannot go.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Portland Trail Blazers

Total: 226

POR -6

Timberwolves

You could argue this entire slate hinged on Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose . Butler and Jeff Teague are out, while Derrick Rose is probable. Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns are always cash plays when Butler sits; Towns has scored at least 28 points in both games Butler has missed this season. Minnesota’s defense was awful last season when Butler was out, but this season it has been equally terrible whether he plays or not. The Timberwolves have the fifth worst defensive rating in the NBA.

Trail Blazers

Al-Farouq Aminu has been pretty good of late, with double-digit rebounds in three of his last four games, including two double-doubles. Portland is looking to rebound from a four-point loss to the Lakers Saturday in which they shot 6-of-35 from three-point range. Portland is shooting 36.6 percent on threes this season. Like Aminu, Jusuf Nurkic is having a nice run, averaging 18.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 rebounds over the last three games.

Toronto Raptors @ Los Angeles Lakers

Total: 237.5

TOR -3

Raptors

This is an awfully high total considering Toronto is allowing the sixth fewest points per game this season, even if they rank seventh in points scored. Kawhi Leonard is questionable for this game. Kyle Lowry had at least 12 assists in both games Leonard has missed this season. He is averaging a league-high 11.2 assists per game this season. The rest of Toronto’s starting lineup will likely depend on the matchups, and while it is anyone’s guess who else would pick up the slack with Leonard out, whoever starts at center and power forward would be worth considering, especially in GPP lineups.

Lakers

The Lakers are allowing the fourth most points in the NBA this season, but they are scoring the second most points. Brandon Ingram struggled at Portland Saturday, but he still played 33 minutes, highest on the team. Kyle Kuzma and JaVale McGee have been the Lakers’ most consistent players after LeBron James . The point guard and back up wing positions remain in flux, with Lonzo Ball taking a back seat to Rajon Rondo Saturday after looking like the clear starting point guard earlier in the week.
