The DFS WNBA Playbook is a labor of love, and as such, only players who I love on a given day make the cut. I don’t think it does anyone any good to list 20+ players, even if that might increase my odds of naming the top performers in any given day. Usually, I wind up with roughly 16 players in the playbook, but I just couldn’t get there for Tuesday’s four-game slate. The problem is there are just too many players I like and not enough that I love.
In slates like this, my strategy is almost always to cram the players I love into multiple lineups, and then fill the end of the roster with more expensive players I like. That is why Brittany Boyd is in three lineups and Sylvia Fowles is in just one.
I really like Fowles and teammate Maya Moore Tuesday, but I would be completely comfortable rostering any of the top forwards. There is no point in downgrading from Boyd to a player I would rather avoid just so I can squeeze Fowles into a roster. Put more simply, the difference between Boyd and her possible replacement is bigger than the difference between Fowles and Breanna Stewart. There also aren’t a ton of playable punt plays Tuesday, so fitting more than two expensive players into a lineup is going to be difficult.
Player | FanDuel Price | DraftKings Price | Comments |
Sylvia Fowles, F, MIN | $ 8,600 | $ 12,900 | Sylvia Fowles has scored 14 and 13 points respectively in her last two games, but she has still been solid for fantasy thanks to her production in just about every other category. She isn't going to be held under 20 points for much longer, and she has an excellent chance at 20 points and 10 rebounds in this game. |
Maya Moore, F, MIN | $ 7,900 | $ 12,400 | I wanted to get her into more lineups, but I just couldn't afford her in my cash lineups. Moore has scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games, and even if she is missing shots, she should be super safe for fantasy. |
Tina Charles, F, NY | $ 7,800 | $ 11,600 | Tina Charles is averaging more fantasy points this season than Maya Moore and Candace Parker, and I don't understand why she is so cheap. I don't think Seattle has anyone to match up with her. |
Jewell Loyd, G, SEA | $ 7,600 | $ 8,700 | Like Jasmine Thomas, Jewell Loyd has struggled from the field of late, shooting 26.8 percent over her last four games. Loyd is too cheap on DraftKings, and you could do worse for a GPP play on FanDuel as well. |
Jasmine Thomas, G, CON | $ 6,100 | $ 8,400 | Thomas led Connecticut in field goal attempts and tied for the lead in rebounds Sunday with Courtney Williams out. Thomas shot a miserable 26.7 percent, but a big game is coming. Thomas is shooting just 25.4 percent over her last five games. |
Stefanie Dolson, F, CHI | $ 5,900 | $ 9,500 | Dolson has played at least 30 minutes and scored at least 30.5 fantasy points in each of her three games since returning to the starting lineup. Her price is still pretty low, especially on FanDuel. |
Brittany Boyd, G, NY | $ 4,900 | $ 5,700 | Boyd played 27 minutes in each of her last two games (both against the Sky) after topping 17 minutes just once all season. Boyd averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals in those two games. She may come back down to earth, especially against a different opponent, but she may be the best bargain in Tuesday's slate. |
Diamond DeShields, G, CHI | $ 4,700 | $ 7,500 | In the three games since Stefanie Dolson rejoined the starting lineup, Diamond DeShields is averaging 30.9 fantasy points on DraftKings. She is averaging 15.3 field goal attempts and 7.0 free throw attempts over that span. |
Azura Stevens, F, DAL | $ 4,600 | $ 4,700 | Steven is averaging 19.7 fantasy points on DraftKings over her last five games. She has been fairly consistent since joining the starting lineup and she is too cheap on DraftKings. She is a slightly cheaper version of Alysha Clark, who I also like in this slate. |
Lindsay Whalen, G, MIN | $ 4,500 | $ 4,400 | Lindsay Whalen played 26 minutes Sunday despite going scoreless for the second time this season thanks to Danielle Robinson's hamstring injury. The Fever are allowing the third most points in the league this season, and Whalen is a decent punt play if Robinson is out again. |
Alex Bentley, G, CON | $ 4,300 | $ 6,200 | Bentley led the Sun in points (15), assists (4), steals (2) and minutes (25) with Courtney Williams out Sunday. Williams is questionable for Tuesday's game, and Bentley is a solid play if Williams is out. |
Jonquel Jones, F, CON | $ 5,800 | $ 7,800 | It looks like Jones is maybe, finally, turning the corner. She had her best game of the season Wednesday and followed it up with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and a block in 22 minutes Sunday. It is hard to actually trust her, but we know her upside is enormous. |
