For the second week in a row, the overwhelming majority of Friday pickups are wide receivers. This week, there is a nice mix of potential injury replacements as well as upside plays. If you are fortunate enough to not have to contend with many byes, now is a good time to make a pickup or two with an eye toward the future.

The players are listed roughly in the order I would seek to add them, though things could change drastically based on injury reports. Each player is listed along with his ownership percentage in Yahoo! leagues.

Willie Snead, WR, NO (58%) – Michael Thomas did not practice Wednesday and was limited Thursday. It sounds like he will play, but Willie Snead would get a big boost for fantasy if Thomas is out.

Corey Davis, WR, TEN (26%) – Davis, the first rookie taken in this year’s draft, is expected to return in Week 9. Like John Ross, Davis may have to fight for targets on a team that has several mouths to feed. Unlike Ross, Davis has actually had some modicum of success in the NFL, with six receptions for 69 yards in Week 1. It is possible you never actually start Corey Davis, but I am willing to take a chance on his talent.

Kenny Golladay, WR, DET (17%) and TJ Jones, WR, DET (2%) – Detroit plays Sunday night, and if you plan on waiting for Golden Tate, who will likely be a game time decision, you probably need to add one or both of his backups. Tate has been limited in practice all week, while Golladay missed Thursday’s practice. If Golladay is ruled out, Jones could be quite valuable. He caught six passes for 66 yards in Week 6.

John Ross, WR, CIN (3%) – Ross is expected to return Sunday after missing four consecutive games with a knee injury. Tyler Boyd still hasn’t practiced this week, so there could be a bit more of an opportunity for the ninth pick in the 2017 NFL draft. If you have a roster spot you can use on some upside, Ross could be a worthwhile pickup.

Detroit Lions, D/ST, DET (44%) – I don’t love the Lions this week against Pittsburgh, but you could certainly do worse. After this week, Detroit plays at Green Bay, Cleveland, at Chicago, Minnesota, at Baltimore, at Tampa Bay, Chicago, at Cincinnati and Green Bay. There is not a single good quarterback in the group unless Aaron Rodgers returns for Week 17. If you add the Lions now, may not need another fantasy defense the rest of the season.

Dontrelle Inman, WR, CHI (2%) – Inman caught 58 passes for 810 yards and four touchdowns last season, and he immediately becomes the most talented receiver on Chicago’s roster following the trade from San Diego. No Bears receiver has had significant fantasy value yet this season, and Inman may be no different, but he is worth stashing in deep leagues at least until we see how he does coming out of Chicago’s Week 9 bye.

J.D. McKissic, RB, SEA (6%) – Stop me if you have heard this one before: C.J. Prosise is dealing with an injury and may miss Sunday’s game. McKissic is averaging 10.5 fantasy points in PPR scoring over his last three games, and fantasy players can expect similar scoring whenever Prosise is out.

Phillip Dorsett, WR, NE (2%) – Remember him? There was a lot of hype surrounding Dorsett early in the season when Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan were dealing with injuries, and now Amendola is questionable after hyperextending his knee Sunday against Atlanta. The Patriots have a bye next week, and if they hold out Amendola, Dorsett would have some upside as Tom Brady’s No. 3 receiver.

Jesse James, TE, PIT (18%) – James hasn’t caught a pass in either of the last two weeks while Vance McDonald has been more involved in the passing game. McDonald didn’t practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, and if he is out, James would likely get some receiving work again. James caught 18 passes through the first five weeks of the season.

Aldrick Robinson, WR, SF (0%) – The 49ers have a good matchup, and may have to score points to keep up, though we said the same thing last week, and that didn’t turn out very well. That being said, Marquise Goodwin is questionable, and Aldrick Robinson is the most likely candidate to step up if Goodwin cannot go.
