Ideally, outside of maybe adding a defense, you can just skip the waiver wire this week. There isn’t any widely-available player I feel confident can help your team for the rest of the season or even the next handful of weeks. That being said, this isn’t a terrible week if you need help getting through a bye. There are several short term adds at a variety of positions who can be useful for Week 8, as well as a couple of speculative adds if you want upside and have a roster spot to burn.  The waiver adds listed below include their ownership in Yahoo! fantasy leagues as well as the amount in FAAB I would be willing to spend out of a $100 budget.

10-Team League Waiver Adds

Kenny Stills, WR, MIA (23%) – Stills has at least four receptions and one touchdown in each of the games DeVante Parker has missed. With Jay Cutler possibly out Thursday as well, Stills could be a fantasy starter for at least one more week. $10

Jack Doyle, TE, IND (44%) – Doyle, Cameron Brate and Kyle Rudolph are the only tight ends with at least five receptions in each of their last three games, per Pro Football Reference. Those other two players are owned in more than 90 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and Doyle probably needs to be too, at least until we get past the bye weeks. $5

Miami Dolphins DEF (27%) – Miami has allowed more than 20 points just once this season, and the Ravens have scored just 10 offensive touchdowns through seven games. Miami’s defense should be super safe this week, and Joe Flacco is always a candidate to throw a couple of brutal interceptions. $5

12-Team Leagues

Matt Forte, RB, NYJ (31%) – Forte has at least three receptions in four of his five games this season, and he should get a lot of work against an Atlanta defense that is susceptible to pass-catching backs. He still hasn’t found the end zone, which may not change any time soon, but he feels super safe this week. $5

Jalen Richard (11%) and DeAndre Washington (3%), RB, OAK – I think Richard and Washington are essentially the same player, and it showed on Thursday night, when they each had nine carries and finished with nearly identical fantasy totals. Richard was more effective as a receiver last week, which is why he would get the slight nod for me, but I would rather put in smaller bids on both players rather than get into a bidding war on Richard. If you need a bye-week fill-in you could do worse than either of these players, but most teams in most leagues can probably ignore them. $1

Cincinnati Bengals DEF (25%) – The combination of a Week 6 Bye and a Week 7 trip to Pittsburgh has deflated the Bengals’ ownership, but this is a good defense who plays the Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Broncos and Browns the next five weeks. $3

Julius Thomas, TE, MIA (18%) – The injuries to DeVante Parker and Jay Cutler led to three receptions for a season-high 58 yards for Thomas Sunday. This isn’t a great week for adding tight ends, but you could do far worse for a bye week fill-in. $3

C.J. Beathard, QB, SF (6%) – This is a pretty terrible week for streaming quarterbacks, though I do like Tyrod Taylor and Andy Dalton if either is available in your league. In most leagues, Beathard is your best bet. He has at least 200 passing yards and one touchdown in each of his last two games, and even if he doesn’t throw the ball well, he could make up for it with volume and rushing. Philadelphia’s defensive is far from intimidating, and Beathard may have to throw the ball 40 times to try to keep up with the Eagles’ offense. $5

Juju Smith-Schuster, PIT (15%) – There are better waiver options if you need immediate help, but Smith-Schuster is a long term upside play, especially if Martavis Bryant is traded. He has touchdowns in three of his seven games this season, and he would be the clear favorite to emerge as Ben Roethlisberger’s number three target with Bryant gone. $7

Kenny Golladay, WR, DET (15%) – Golladay hasn’t played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury, and he is no sure thing to return for a tough matchup against Pittsburgh Sunday night. That being said, he could be the number two receiver with Golden Tate out. I wouldn’t want to spend a ton of FAAB until we have a better idea of his status, but if Golladay practices Wednesday, feel free to throw a few extra bucks his way. $5

14+ Team Leagues

TJ Jones, WR, DET (0%) – Even if Kenny Golladay returns, TJ Jones could be the Detroit’s number two receiver with Golden Tate out. That is solid upside for very deep leagues. $10

Breshad Perriman, WR, BAL (2%) – It probably just isn’t ever going to happen for Perriman, especially in this offense, but he has an opportunity if Jeremy Maclin remains out. Perriman returned to practice Monday, which is a good sign. $1

Deonte Thompson, WR, BUF (2%) – Thompson was cut by the Bears, who are completely devoid of talent at wide receiver,  so it is hard to believe he will sustain any fantasy value in Buffalo. That being said, he has at least four receptions in three games this season, including four for 107 yards in his Buffalo debut. Buffalo has a soft schedule and a competent quarterback, so Thompson could be worth stashing in deep leagues. $1

A.J. Derby, TE, DEN (0%) – Almost all of Derby’s six receptions and 66 yards last week came with the Chargers playing prevent defense in garbage time. Even so, there are targets to be had if Emmanuel Sanders remains out, and Bennie Fowler III didn’t exactly light the world on fire last week. $1
