On Monday I recommended a Rockies stack at home Monday and they managed just five runs. Homer Bailey and the vaunted Cincinnati bullpen held Colorado to one run Tuesday. I actually like the Rockies against Scott Feldman Wednesday, but not, I suspect, as much as other people. Scott Feldman hasn’t allowed more than four earned runs in any of his last eight starts, and even if you want to pay up for a stack Wednesday, I’m pretty sure we can find you some better options. Here are my stacks for Wednesday, July 5, listed in order of preference:

Boston Red Sox at Texas Rangers (Andrew Cashner, R)

Hanley Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia, Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Mitch Moreland, Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr.

Andrew Cashner has an 11.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and when you combine that with a 10.3 percent walk rate, it is something of a miracle he has gone this long with an ERA under 4.00. The Rangers’ relievers has a 4.66 ERA this season, and they have thrown 10.0 innings over the last two days. If Cashner cannot go deep into this game, it could be ugly. Betts, Benintendi, Bradley Jr., Deven Marrero and Ramirez are all batting .387 or better over the last five days. I would much rather pay for the Red Sox than the Rockies.

Houston Astros at Atlanta Braves (Jaime Garcia, L)

Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer, Yulieski Gurriel, Evan Gattis

Jaime Garcia has allowed exactly six earned runs in three consecutive starts. I don’t hate Houston’s chances of making it four-in-a-row. The Astros have the best road OPS in baseball at .864 and the third-best OPS against lefties at .815. The Astros also have the best wOBA in baseball over the last seven days at .425. In case you needed more convincing, Jose Altuve is 9-for-21 against Garcia while Marwin Gonzalez is 4-for-9 with a home run.

Minnesota Twins vs. Los Angeles Angels (Parker Bridwell, R)

Max Kepler, Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, Joe Mauer, Eduardo Escobar, Brian Dozier

Bridwell has a 4.61 K/9 and 2.30 HR/9, but he has somehow survived thanks to a 90.1 LOB%. Bridwell has a 3.95 ERA, 6.44 FIP and 5.39 xFIP. Sooner or later those numbers will catch up to him. Bridwell is catching the Twins at exactly the wrong time. Miguel Sano is 9-for-25 with seven RBI during his current six-game hitting streak. Eddie Rosario is 7-for-17 during July. Joe Mauer is 10-for-32 over the last week. Kepler is 9-for-26. Escobar is 7-for-24. Brian Dozier is expected to return to the lineup after missing two games with a sore back, but if he is out, Robbie Grossman would be worth playing considering he has batted first or second in four of the last five games.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Baltimore Orioles (Jayson Aquino, L)

Orlando Arcia, Manny Pina, Jonathan Villar, Jesus Aguilar, Ryan Braun, Domingo Santana, Travis Shaw

I liked the Brewers when I thought Chris Tillman was making this start, and they should be even better considering Jayson Aquino has a 4.46 ERA in 66.2 innings at Triple-A this season. Aquino has allowed eight earned runs in eight big league innings this season, and I don’t like his chances against a red-hot Brewers lineup. Manny Pina is 7-for-16 with two home runs and six RBI over his last four games. Orlando Arcia is 10-for-16 during his four-game hitting streak. Travis Shaw is 7-for-17 over the last week. Ryan Braun hasn’t been nearly as hot of late, but he does have at least one hit in all six games since returning from the disabled list.
