I typically play the same mix of GPP’s and cash games for each slate, though sometimes I will lean more heavily towards one or the other. One of the ways I can tell if a slate is better for GPP’s is by the number of forwards listed in the Playbook. Midfielders tend to be safer than forwards, and because so many midfielders are forward-eligible on DraftKings, we sometimes end up with a lot of midfielders and few forwards, as is the case for Sunday’s EPL DFS slate. There are a few interesting GPP plays, especially depending on what lineups Manchester United and Aston Villa go with, but I feel pretty confident loading up on midfielders for cash lineups.

Goalkeepers
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Alphonse AreolaFULAVL44006.99911.12
Among the teams in this slate, only Manchester United have allowed more saves than Aston Villa, and United have scored 17 more goals. Aston Villa is more dangerous with Grealish back, but we don't know if he can go 90 minutes or if he will immediately return to form. Of the underdog keepers, I think Areola has the best chance of picking up a handful of saves without completely imploding.
Hugo LlorisTOTNEW55008.121212.62
I may change my mind if Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson both start, but even if that happens, Tottenham would be heavy favorites to win and keep a clean sheet. If Wilson is out and Saint-Maximin starts on the bench, which seems like the most likely scenario,Lloris would be worth paying up for, even if we don't expect many saves.
Forwards
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Ollie WatkinsAVLFUL770011.351917.56
Watkins was on an absolute tear before Jack Grealish went down, averaging 28.7 FD fantasy points in the five games prior to Grealish's injury. I don't necessarily expect him to return to that form immediately, but he will be a nice value if he does.
Midfielders
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Jack GrealishAVLFUL970018.841824.07
Among players on the slate only Bruno Fernandes and Harry Kane (on FanDuel) have more fantasy points than Jack Grealish. Grealish is the fifth-most expensive player on DraftKings and seventh-most expensive on FanDuel. He may not play 90 minutes in his first game back, but I'm willing to take that change in a good home matchup with Fulham.
Ryan FraserNEWTOT76008.43117.86
Fraser has 24 crosses, five chances created and four shots (two on target) in his last three games. He is a prime candidate to come off early if Saint-Maximin is on the bench, but I expect a lot of crosses until that happens.
Bruno FernandesMUNBHA1060020.782230.02
Fernandes's struggles against the top six (last month's performance at City notwithstanding) have been well-documented, but he has absolutely destroyed everyone else. He has at least 28 FD fantasy points in six of his last eight games, and he is easily the top play on the slate.
Pascal GrossBHAMUN870011.481413.42
Gross might be the most consistent player on the slate. He has at least 13.3 FD fantasy points in nine of his last 10 games, and he is even more consistent on DK thanks to all of the crosses he hits. It is hard to pass him up in cash games even with a tough matchup on paper.
Son Heung-MinTOTNEW980016.262021.53
Even though Son is coming off a hamstring injury, I think he is safer than Gareth Bale. I would rather pay up for Harry Kane if I could, but Son has been consistent all season and should get most of the corners.
MidfieldersTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Bertrand TraoreAVLFUL68008.731510.35
Traore may have suffered as much statistically as anyone from Jack Grealish's absence. Traore has never been partiularly consistent, but his athleticism makes him dangerous, especially when Grealish is garnering so much defensive attention.
Ademola LookmanFULAVL890012.131615.48
Looks is averaging 22.4 FD fantasy points in his last four games against non Top-six sides. His game log looks ugly before of games against Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham, but I expect a big game against Aston Villa.
Daniel JamesMUNBHA49006.55139.27
James has 10 crosses in his last three starts that weren't against Manchester City. I think he is good enough to take advantage of this matchup, especially if Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are out, and James is the cheapest midfielder I feel okay about starting.
Defenders
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Sergio ReguilonTOTNEW50007.43912.30
Reguilon is not quite as consistent for fantasy as Serge Aurier, but Reguilon is cheaper and is more than capable of taking advantage of good matchups. Only West Brom have kept less possession than Newcastle this season, and I expect Reguilon to get forward and send in crosses early and often.
Tosin AdarabioyoFULAVL26004.231014.75
I'm don't understand why he remains so cheap. Only Davidson Sanchez has more clearances over the last five gameweeks, and that's even Adarabioyo failing to get a single clearance against Manchester City. That game was the only time Adarabioyo had fewer than 10 FD fantasy points in his last 10 games. Aston Villa have allowed the third-most clearances in the league this season.
Dan BurnBHAMUN39004.1679.43
Burn is averaging 7.0 DK fantasy points and 12.5 FD fantasy points in his last five games. Considering the matchup and the price, I think I prefer him on FD, but he is a good play on both sites.
Kenny TeteFULAVL45006.62811.46
Tete has at least 7.4 DK fantasy points in each of his last three starts, though I think whoever starts at outside back should be safe for Fulham. Antonee Robinson looked good with the USMNT during the International Break, and Ola Aina is a cheap consideration whenever he starts.
