Play College Football on: Draft Kings

The DraftKings Mon-Tues slate comes down to whether or not you want to pay the price for Leonard Fournette. If you spend the money, you really have to dig out your points in other areas. We’ll spend the money. Texas Tech is giving up an average of 271 yards per game on the ground, with the run S&P ranked at 124. We’ll have to get creative, but leaving Fournette off the lineup just is not an option.

QB - Pat Mahomes - $8,100

We’ve used Mahomes often this season and we’ll go back to the well. The value that he brings with his feet will be used against a balanced LSU defense. We expect a lot of points to be put up in the Texas Bowl and a good majority of these points will be orchestrated by Tech’s QB.

QB – Jared Goff - $7,300

Goff will take the field looking to impress the pro scouts in what could likely be his final collegiate game. Air Force brings a decent defense to the contest, but nothing that will prevent Goff from chucking it at least 45 times. Cal will win this game and Goff will be the key fantasy contributor.

RB – Leonard Fournette - $9,400

$9,400 is an insane price to pay for a player in DFS. It absolutely kills your budget, so the player must be pretty special. Fournette is that player. We explained the susceptibility of the TTech defense above, but credit also needs to be given to Fournette’s individual accomplishments.  In the debate of whether or not to play Fournette, we started calculating potential points. When we deduced that he could feasibly double Elijah Hood’s fantasy output, we pretty much immediately clicked him into our lineup.

RB – Jacobi Owens - $5,000

Owens comes at a pretty good price. Timothy McVey has hit on the big plays in the last few weeks for Air Force, but Owens is still the workhorse back. He brings carries and consistency, and we expect him to find success against the Cal defense.

WR – KD Cannon - $5,100

Baylor hasn’t been the same since they’ve lost their top two QB’s (and the wheels really fell off when WR Lynx Hawthorne found himself behind center). They’re still a talented team though, and they should get back to scoring points. Cannon struggled during the beginning half of the season, but has steadily emerged during the second half. He should also benefit from the absence of the all-everything Corey Coleman who is out with injury.

WR – Malachi Dupre - $4,000

It feels a bit weird to put on an LSU wideout when we’re putting all of our stock into their running game. Dupre comes at too good of a price, and Texas Tech’s pass defense is also terrible. They are bad enough that Brandon Harris might complete a few passes. These passes should be directed at Dupre who is the clear #1 with the season ending injury to Dural.

WR – Jerico Richardson - $4,400

The NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl features the unfortunate pairing of two MWC teams. Nothing says underappreciated than facing your own conference in a bowl game (even though they didn’t play in the regular season). Nevada’s passing game is pretty narrow as they focus on two players. We’ll take the leader of the two. Richardson is actually pretty exciting and should be a source of points at a great value.

Flex – Trevor Davis - $3,200

Our flex positions are where we’re having to get creative (see: Fournette’s humongous price tag). We’ll start with Cal receiver Trevor Davis. He hasn’t had a ton of success this season, but his targets have increased from the start of the season. The last week of the regular season saw 5 receptions on 9 targets. Goff is going to sling it around to a variety of guys, so it’s to be expected that Davis will stay in the mix.

Flex – Jalen Robinette - $3,400

We recognize that it’s not the best practice to take Air Force WR’s. However, with the few dollars we have remaining, Robinette provides the most bang for our buck. Robinette has only 21 receptions on the year, but he’s gone for over 570 yards and 4 scores. We’re hoping the junior ends his season on a high note.
