Today’s edition of the DFS MLB Hitting Coach will only be for the 11-game evening slate that has a roster lock of 7:05 PM ET/4:05 PM PT.

Last night was a bit odd because most of the pitching options disappointed, but in a little bit of a twist from the last few days, there are some very good pitching options available tonight.

Hopefully we can carry some of the momentum we had last night into tonight. It’s pretty rare for three players to go DOUBLE DONG in one night (Chris Carter, Eduardo Nunez, and Nelson Cruz), and I was fortunate to be in on all of them last night.

As far as weather is concerned, we’re looking at another night without any issues. Still, it’s still a good idea to keep an eye on any weather developments as we get closer to roster lock.

Players are organized from highest to lowest salary at each position using FanDuel pricing.

Wilson Ramos has been one of the most consistent catchers in Major League Baseball this season. Over his last eight games, he has gone 13-for-27 (.481 AVG) with three homers, two doubles, nine runs, and 11 RBI. This consistency has helped him earn the trust of Dusty Baker and has even given him a spot as the #5 hitter in the lineup.

Matt Wieters is batting .368/.383/.614 with three homers and 14 RBI over this last 15 games. Gets a great matchup against Edinson Volquez, who is significantly worse away from home. In fact, he is giving up a brutal .377 wOBA to go with a 2.2 K-BB percent away from Kaufmann Stadium this season.

Brian McCann is a better hitter against right-handed pitching and is a better hitter at home. In 58 plate appearances against right-handed pitchers at Yankee Stadium this season, he has batted .288/.362/.577 while hitting four of his eight home runs. Not bad for someone who is barely staying above the Mendoza line with his .222 average.

Salvador Perez is only $2500 tonight on FanDuel in a pretty good matchup against Chris Tillman of the O’s. Perez has homered off of Tillman in the past and happens to be crushing right-handed pitching this season, batting .290/.317/.514 with five of his seven home runs.

Chris Davis is usually too inconsistent to be playing in your cash games, but nonetheless, the matchup against Edinson Volquez is extremely good. When you roster Davis, you are definitely looking to take advantage of his pure power. Keep in mind, Crush has a .266 ISO lifetime against right-handed pitching.

Chris Carter went DOUBLE DONG last night and continues to be the high ceiling type of player we crave for our GPPs. His 16 home runs this season is tied for third best in the National League. Best of all, he gets a great matchup against Jesse Hahn who is having the worst season of his career, and happens to be even worse away from home. He is giving up a line of .452/.541/.645 with a .505 wOBA to his opponents on the road.

Matt Adams has a seven-game hitting streak where he has gone 9-for-24 (.375 AVG) with a homer, two doubles, two walks, and four RBI. He matches up well against Alfredo Simon who has a dreadful 5.42 xFIP and 2.28 HR/9 this season.

Yonder Alonso has been quietly swinging a very hot bat, going 8-for-15 (.533 AVG) with three doubles, three walks, and two RBI over his last four games.

Dustin Pedroia may be someone you want to roster if you want to take advantage of DK’s (the guy is playing against an ace) algorithm thanks to his matchup with Madison Bumgarner. Pedroia is only $3500 on DK and is working on a 13-game hitting streak.

Robinson Cano’s salary throughout the industry is quite reasonable considering he has been consistently productive throughout the season. With some of the other big names in Jose Altuve and Daniel Murphy over $5000 on DK, he’s at a very reasonable $4000.

Brian Dozier has definitely improved his game in recent weeks, and still prefers to hit against southpaws. He gets to face Wei-Yin Chen who he has batted .375/.412/.562 against with a home run over 17 previous meetings

Derek Dietrich is batting .356/.452/.593 with a .435 wOBA against right-handed pitching away from home. He has cooled off a bit lately, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t a good play against a struggling Ricky Nolasco

Matt Carpenter tends to crush the ball when he makes good contact with it. Believe it or not, Carpenter has the lowest Soft Hit Rate in the Major Leagues at just 7.6 percent. That is EXTREMELY low. The next lowest is J.D. Martinez at 10.5 percent. His matchup tonight against Alfredo Simon is outstanding, and he is swinging a hot bat, doubling in each of his last three games.

Alex Rodriguez has batted .379/.486/.966 with five homers throughout his career against Jered Weaver of the Angels. A-Rod has been much better at the plate since coming off of the Disabled List and has gone 10-for-29 (.345 AVG) with four RBI over his last seven games. His best value tonight is on DraftKings at $3600.

Eugenio Suarez just needed a series in Coors Field to get back on track. Over his last eight games, he has gone 11-for-30 (.367 AVG) with four homers, two doubles, three walks, 10 runs, and seven RBI.

Pedro Alvarez sadly got robbed badly by Lorenzo Cain last night in Baltimore, or else he would have had his third home run in his last five games. He is the cheapest of the big Orioles bats and could provide some salary relief if you’re needing to roster one of the big name pitchers.

Jonathan Villar had a game to forget against the not so scary Sean Manaea of the A’s last night. I wouldn’t sweat it though. He has a better matchup against Jesse Hahn tonight, who has struggled holding runners on base, allowing six stolen bases over just 31 innings pitched.

Eduardo Nunez was another name in my article yesterday that went DOUBLE DONG last night and has multiple hits in seven of his last 10 games. His .337 AVG is the fourth best in the American League, and is only behind names like Xander Bogaerts, Victor Martinez, and David Ortiz

Marcus Semien still packs in that big upside you tend to look for in your GPPs. His 11 home runs this season is second in the American League behind Manny Machado. He matches up extremely well with Chase Anderson, who struggles with right-handed hitters. allowing a line of .323/.362/.617 and a .410 wOBA.

Jhonny Peralta is still only $2000 on FanDuel and it’ll probably be wise for you to roster him if you’re looking to pay up for pitching. He still has a ton of upside and has consistently been one of the best bats at shortstop. He rewarded everyone last night with 19 FanDuel points, which was good for 9.5x value.

Mark Trumbo is an absolute beast. He has five home runs over his last six games and is completely ripping the cover off of every mistake. Edinson Volquez has a brutal 1.91 HR/9 away from home, which bodes well for Trumbo, who has hit 11 of his 20 homers this season at Camden Yards.

Bryce Harper is still a little too cheap for my liking. He gets a good matchup against James Shields who will be making his first start in a White Sox uniform. This trade probably doesn’t exactly bode too well for Shields considering he loses the park boost from playing at Petco (mainly because it’s worse to pitch at the Cell). Plus, there’s also the fact that 25 years from now, I’ll still remember him as the guy who allowed the home run to the human baked potato.

Carlos Beltran has homered in three of his last four starts and is taking a page out of David Ortiz’s book, playing some of the best baseball of his career at 39 years of age. He has two hits in six at-bats against Jered Weaver, and both of those hits went out of the park.

Trayce Thompson hit a walkoff homer last night to help the Dodgers take the second game of their series against the Rockies. He has a great .286 ISO against left-handed pitching and gets a great matchup against Chris Rusin who has given up a .367 wOBA throughout his career against right-handed hitters. I love his value on DraftKings at just $3500.

Adam Jones is 4-for-9 (.444 AVG) with two home runs, lifetime, against Edinson Volquez of the Royals. Being moved up to the leadoff spot has been the best thing that could have happened to Jones, considering he is batting .289/.320/.556 with three homers in just 45 at-bats.

Nomar Mazara has a six-game hitting streak, where he has gone 10-for-23 (.435 AVG) with a homer, double, five runs, and three RBI. He faces Doug Fister who has given up a line of .297/.362/.536 and seven of his nine home runs to left-handed hitting this season.

Colby Rasmus happens to be 7-for-15 (.467 AVG) with a homer, triple, and double against Yu Darvish of the Rangers. The best thing about it though is that he is somehow just $3200 on DraftKings tonight.

Khris Davis would be one of my favorite GPP plays tonight if he gets the start against his former team. I love his matchup against Chase Anderson, but I happen to love his narrative coming back to Miller Park even more. He even told reporters that he was disappointed that he wasn’t playing yesterday because there was “nobody I want to beat more.”

Curtis Granderson is only $3100 on DraftKings tonight. He has consistently been one of the better hitters in the league against right-handed pitchers, but sadly has been very inconsistent throughout the season. He homered yesterday in the first game of the double header, and is the type of hitter that could give Jamison Taillon fits tonight.

Chris Young is another DraftKings preferred play if thanks to his inflated $3200 salary on FanDuel and minimal $2400 salary on DraftKings. Young has hits in each of his last eight starts, going 11-for-29 (.379 AVG) with three homers, four doubles, five walks, six RBI, and two stolen bases.

Michael Conforto is now a reasonable $2900 on FanDuel. Yes, he has dropped off after his crazy good April, but he still has a super high 43.5 percent Hard Hit Rate and always has big upside against right-handed pitching, who he has batted .288/.367/.568 against this season.

Robbie Grossman has reached base safely six out of 10 times over his last two games and has homered in each of those two games. His plate discipline has been very good, especially with his 1:1 K:BB ratio. He is still a minimum price on Aces and can provide some great salary relief.

Ben Revere will likely remain a prime value play as long as his price stays around $2500 on FanDuel. He has always been an on-base machine and was able to show that off last night, where he reached base safely three out of five plate appearances.

Austin Jackson had been swinging a very hot bat before he had to sit out for about a week because of a toe issue, but was able to reach base safely four out of five plate appearances in his return to the lineup last night. Going back to 5/22, he has gone 15-for-31 (.484 AVG) with a triple, two doubles, four walks, six runs, four RBI, and a stolen base over his last nine games. He’s mainly here as a value play where he is only $2300 on DraftKings and $2400 on FanDuel.

Scott Van Slyke deserves a very strong look on FanDuel if he gets the start against the southpaw, Chris Rusin. While Van Slyke has been on the Disabled List for much of 2016, he has still batted a solid .275/.388/.498 with 14 home runs in just 265 at-bats against lefties over the last three seasons. That minimum price might just be too hard to pass up.
