Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 4-8-14

Was freaking out last night with no NBA games on the schedule, but locked and loaded for tonight's six game slate. Below are players I like based on value, production, and matchups. The cheap plays are players who should exceed their value while not costing a lot, the mid-tier group are players that should produce big numbers while not breaking the bank, and the expensive players are high priced players who are worth every penny.

Cheap Plays

*All prices and fantasy points (FP) are based on DraftStreets scoring system

Cory Joseph- Is the value play of the day as he will be starting for the injured Tony Parker. He will approach 20 FP which is more than three times his value. Ricky Rubio is one of the worst defensive PG in the leagues so Co-Jo will have field day. Patty Mills isn’t a bad start either, but costs a lot more than Co-Jo.

Kyle Korver- The sharp shooter has played 34 plus minutes in three straight games and faces a Detroit defense that is giving up almost 40 FP per game to opposing SG’s in the past 15 days. Add in the fact his price tag is $8,148, means he should be in all lineups tonight.

Would play both Dante Cunningham & Gorgui Dieng tonight if Kevin Love sits, but wouldn’t play either one of them if K-Love suits up. Should know more about his chances to play closer to game time.

Mid-Tier Value Plays

Jeff Teague- Surprised how cheap he is on DS because he has played very well the vs Pistons by averaging 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, 8 assist, and 1.5 steals in their two matchups. Also helps that the Pistons are giving up 46.5 FP to opposing point guards in the past 15 days. Teague is a must start tonight given his low price tag ($12,691) and potential for a huge game.

Monta Ellis- Makes for a good GPP play as he has torched the Jazz for 21 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7 assist in three games this season. Would play him if I wanted to spend some extra cash on a reliable guard.

Omer Asik- Had a DECENT game last time out vs Denver by scoring 18 points and grabbing 23! rebounds with 3 steals/3 blocks, which was good enough for 53 FP. Tonight he gets an even better matchup vs the Lakers who are giving up over 50 FP per game to opposing centers in the past 15 days (that is last in the NBA). He has to be in all lineups tonight as he will be starting with Dwight Howard out.

Paul Pierce- Never like suggesting “Old Man River”, but he balls out vs Miami. He is averaging 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assist in three games vs them this season. The forward position is pretty ugly tonight so roll with the crafty veteran as he is cheap and will have another solid game vs Miami.

Jeremy Lin makes for a solid play as well as he is getting plenty of minutes with Patrick Beverly out. Also, Like Kawhi Leonard and Jordan Hill as solid value plays that will reach 30 FP while costing less than 13 grand.

Expensive Plays

James Harden- Is my top play tonight because he has absolutely dominated the Lakers this season and doesn’t cost as much as Durant or LeBron. He is averaging 34 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.7 assist and an impressive 4.3 steals in three games vs the Lakers. Not much more you need to know besides that. Pay for him tonight as he has a great chance to be the top overall scorer on the night.

LeBron James & Kevin Durant- If I had to choose to one of them tonight, then I would lean towards Durant because he faces a terrible defensive team in Sacramento and has a chance for a monster game if Russell Westbroook sits. LBJ has been solid vs Brooklyn, but isn’t going to blow up for a monster game vs them.

Good luck tonight and feel free to hit me up on twitter @DaTrueGuru with any fantasy basketball related question.
