Daily Fantasy Basketbal Plays for 4-5-14

Only six games on the NBA slate tonight, but can't think of a better way to start off a Saturday night than by playing daily fantasy basketball. Below are players I like based on value, production, and matchups. The cheap plays are players who should exceed their value while not costing a lot, the mid-tier group are players that should produce big numbers while not breaking the bank, and the expensive players are high priced players who are worth every penny.

Cheap Plays

*All prices and fantasy points (FP) are based on DraftStreets scoring system

Jeff Adrien- Is my favorite cheap play of the day because he is averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds (27.5 FP) in 33 minutes of playing during the past three games. There are not a lot of good forwards out there tonight so Adrian will likely be in a lot of lineups. Always want to consider a player that has a price tag under 10K and will flirt with 30 FP.

Greivis Vasquez- If Kyle Lowry sits, then General Greivis becomes a great value play. He will get plenty of minutes and faces a weak defensive team in the Bucks. Don’t forget he averaged 9 assists per game last season as a starting PG (3rd in the NBA). He will be in all of my lineups if Lowry sits out tonight.

Jerryd Bayless- Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley will miss the game tonight so Bayless will get plenty of minutes. He played 39 minutes last night and jacked up 20 shots while making 8 of them. While he is not likely to explode for a big game, he will get close to 25 FP which is almost triple his price.

Mid-Tier plays

Greg Monroe- Produced 40 plus FP in back-to-back games before last night’s dud. The Celtics can’t stop anyone down low so Monroe should feast tonight. Andre Drummond also makes for a great play as he has averaged 15.7 points, 16.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in three games vs the Celtics. Both players are under $14,600 and will dominate an injury riddled Boston frontcourt.

Jonas Valanciunas- Don’t hurt yourself trying to say his name, instead plug the big guy into your lineup. Most people don’t know who he is so they ignore him, well folks, I am not one of those people. He is averaging 29 FP in the past six games and will dominate the weak frontcourt of the Milwaukee Bucks.

DeMar DeRozan- So many things to like about him tonight: Has a great matchup, is playing almost 40 minutes per game, has to be more of a playmaker with Lowry out, scored 20 plus points in five out of the last six games, and his price is just above 14K. Don’t know what more convincing you need. Play him!

Remember that time Joe Johnson hit 10 three pointers early this season? Well it came against the Sixers (go figure), the same team he plays tonight. Just had to throw it out there. He should be used in GPP tournaments and not 50/50 games.

Expensive plays

Kevin Love- Is the most expensive play tonight and is the only elite player going tonight. The price is high, but he did put up 31 points, 17 rebounds, and 4 assist the only other time he faced Orlando this season. Have no qualms with spending on K-Love tonight.

Al Jefferson- The next best thing to K-Love tonight is Al-J. Not worried about this being the second game of a back-to-back because the Bobcats get three days off after tonight’s game. He hasn’t produced less than 31 FP in seven straight games while scoring 40 plus FP in three of those games.Got to have either Love or Jefferson in your lineup to finish in the green.

Good luck tonight and feel free to holla at me on twitter @DaTrueGuru with fantasy basketball questions.
