Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays For 3-17-14

Celebrate St. Paddy's day the right way..by playing some daily fantasy basketball. Below are players I like based on value, production, and matchups. The cheap plays are players who should exceed their value while not costing a lot, the mid-tier group are players that should produce big numbers while not breaking the bank, and the expensive players are high priced players who are worth every penny.

Also, celebrate the greatness of the NCAA tournament by signing up for the $40,000 CBB Blowout at DraftStreet.

Cheap Plays

* Fantasy Points (FP) are based on DraftKings scoring system

Shawn Marion SF, Dal- Finally got his got his groove back last night by scoring 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting and grabbing six boards. He is a measly $7,758 on DraftStreet and will get close to 20 FP. That is almost three times his value which is great on DS. Roll with “the Matrix” in GPPs, but be careful starting him in 50/50 games.

Kris Humphries PF/C, Bos- Had a huge game last night by posting 45 FP vs the Pelicans. He is only $4,800 on DK so he only needs about 24 FP to reach value which he should exceed considering he is averaging 35 FP in the last five games. Definitely a solid play play on DK and on most sites

Tony Wroten PG, Phi- James Anderson is out tonight so “Murder T- Wroten” will be starting in his place and play significant minutes. The matchup is a tough one as the Sixers face the Pacers who are defensive juggernauts. However, Wroten is cheap and will exceed value.

Avery Bradley PG/SG, Bos- Played 28 minutes last night and will top 30 minutes tonight as he will be starting for Rajon Rondo. The Mavericks are nothing special on defense so I expect Bradley to get close to 30 FP tonight. His price is low and minutes are high so I will be rolling with him on DraftKings.

Patrick Beverley and Wilson Chandler are two other players I will be using tonight as cheap players that will exceed value as well.

Mid-Tier Value Plays

Lance Stephenson/ George HillInd- Both players are averaging over 30 FP vs the Sixers this season and are cheaper than David West and Paul George. I am staying away from Roy Hibbert, who has done literally nothing in nine straight games. Hill is starting to turn it around and his main backup, C.J. Watson, is out for tonight’s game. He had 39 FP when these two teams met three days ago. Stephenson had 36 FP in that game as well. It is always a smart decision to start players playing the Sixers, so go with these two guys.

Derrick Favors PF/C, Utah- Is slowly turning his disappointing season around by averaging almost 36 FP in the past five games. He is averaging 30.6 FP in two games vs the Rockets this season. Think he is a bit over priced on DK, but love his price on DS at $12,452.

Chandler Parsons  SF, Hou- Has struggled the past two games, but that is because he faced Chicago and Miami. Tonight he faces Utah, a team he destroyed for 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assist (50 FP) in their previous meeting. Don’t expect 50 FP, but 40 FP is not out of the questions. Makes an great choice tonight in SF slot.

Expensive Plays

Joakim Noah PF/C- The double-double machine has 10 or more rebounds in three out of the last four games and six or more assist in six straight games. He had 48 FP in only 29 minutes last time he faced the Thunder. He is the top center tonight considering his price is lower than some of the other higher tier players and will have another big night vs the Thunder.

James Harden SG, Hou- Has treated the Jazz like his personal punching by averaging 48 FP in their two meetings. However, his price is high on DK at $10,100, but is more reasonable on other sites. Would rather pay less for a Blake Griffin or Chris Paul on DK.

Chris Paul/ Blake Griffin, LAC- The over/under for this game is 217 so there is going to be plenty of points scored and highlight reel plays. Griffin is averaging a ridiculous 57.4 FP in two games vs the Nuggets this season. Both make for great plays and Griffin has a great chance to be the highest scoring player tonight.

Good luck and feel free to hit me up on twitter @datrueguru with any fantasy basketball question.
