We’re at the point of the season in which team rotations are very locked in. NBA teams, like our fantasy teams, want to see consistency and they don’t want to experiment too much, especially if the team is on a winning streak. One way to find a player who is gaining more confidence in the eyes of coaches is looking for players who grab steals consistently. If you see consistent steals, check for consistent minutes. New players can join a rotation if they show a commitment on defense.

Monte Morris PG DEN-37% Ownership: The Nuggets depth is incredible and w/ Gary Harris hurt, Monte Morris has been playing consistently in the mid to late-20’s. He’s been consistently scoring in double figures. He’s only scored in single-digits once in December. He’s been outperforming his 10.3 points per game average. Morris benefits from Jamal Murray being more of a jump shooter. It allows him to facilitate the offense more. He’s dished at least five dimes in five of his last six games. Morris is committed on defense and uses his quick hands to constantly make swipes. He’s stolen the ball multiple times in four of his last six games. Morris has also been banging for boards right outside the paint. He’s grabbed four boards in two of his last three games. Even when Will Barton is fully healthy, Morris has earned his spot in the Nuggets rotation and he’ll continue being a good complimentary guard to Murray.

Mikal Bridges SG, SF PHX-11% Ownership: Bridges is another player who has been earning more minutes because of his defensive ability. Bridges is used on offense more as a bailout shooter from downtown. Expect his scoring to improve and by the end of the season he should be hovering around 10 points per game. The Suns have been able to leave a good amount of playing time for him despite just acquiring Kelly Oubre Jr. Bridges has played 30-plus minutes in each of his last four games. He’s grabbed steals in his last five games. Bridges will also grab long rebounds and he’s grabbed four or more in his last six games. There’s not one specific category that is completely standing out with outstanding production, but between the ample of amount of playing time and steals he’s been getting, he’s been able to slowly lift his averages in other areas. Bridges has even blocked shots in two of his last four games.

Thomas Bryant C WSH-12% Ownership: The Wizards frontcourt needs all of the help it can get and Bryant is slowly becoming more involved in the Wizards rotation. Dwight Howard will be out for a bit and Bryant has been able to take advantage of extra minutes while Markieff Morris has been sick. Bryant has played over 20 minutes in 3 of his last 4 games and has scored in double figures in his last 2 games. Bryant actually went 14 for 14 from the field and notched a double-double. He has rebounded into double figures in two of his lasty four games. Bryant has also been more effective blocking shots. He’s recorded swats in four of his last five games. Bryant’s build and movement makes you believe he’d be an inside-specific center, but he’ll step out and drain three-pointers if open. If the opposition swarms one side of the paint and he’s on the opposite side, he’ll pop out and hit from long-range.

J.J. Barea G DAL-21% Ownership: Barea should be considered a short-term solution until we are told what exactly is wrong with Dennis Smith Jr’s wrist. Barea has scored in  double figures in his last three games. Barea has been averaging 11.6 points per game this season and he’ll normally help produce in multiple categories. This isn’t the first time nor will it likely be the last time that Barea is on this list. When a guard goes down, he produces. Wesley Matthews has also been banged up for the last week and Barea can rotate to both guard spots. Even Luka Doncic isn’t 100 percent healthy. Expect Barea to get a good amount of time running the point for Dallas and his assist totals should continue to go up. He’s recorded at least five dimes in his last three games. He’s also played at least 20 minutes over his last three games. Barea hustles on both ends of the court and he’ll dive for lose balls and earn more minutes for the amount he sacrifices his body.

Wilson Chandler , SG, F PHI-4% Ownership: Luckily for Chandler, he has a good amount of experience playing PF and he’ll get consistent minutes at that spot on the court. The Sixers lack frontcourt depth and Chandler has scored in double figures in two of his last three games. He’s hit multiple three-pointers in his last three games and he’s a balanced player on both sides of the ball. Chandler has good leaping ability and his well-timed jumps allow him to block shots outside the paint. He’s swatted away shots in four of his last six games that he’s played in. Chandler has had some health issues over the years, but that’s what a decade in the league can do to a player’s body. He missed his previous game with a Quad contusion, but it shouldn’t keep him out. For more games He’ll have some time to run the offense and lead on transition. Chandler has dished at least three assists in three of his last five games. He’ll also be a huge help in grabbing long rebounds. He secured at least five in his last four games.

Davis Bertans PF, C SAS-4% Ownership: Bertans is also a short-term solution. Pau Gasol has been out with a Stress Fracture in his Foot and there are minutes available for other Spurs big-men. LaMarcus Aldridge can’t do it all by himself. Bertans has hit multiple three-pointers in his last four games. He scored in double figures in three of those games. Bertans has been showing signs of improvement on the glass. In three of his last four games he grabbed five or more boards. He’s been a bit more helpful with steals and he’ll step inside the arc once the shot goes up. Bertans is good at running the floor and he constantly moves around the arc. His minutes have gone up because of improved play specifically on defense. He’s played at least 20 minutes in 4 of his last 5 games. He’ll split minutes with Jakob Poeltl for the most part, but because he plays at the arc, he could also grab a few minutes behind Rudy Gay .

Garrett Temple SG, SF MEM-14% Ownership: Temple is trending up again after scoring in double figures in four of his last five games. He’s been a hound on the perimeter and has three straight two-steal games. Temple has played games into the 30’s in 3 of his last 5 games. Temple has also been very helpful with blocking shots at the arc. He has swatted away shots in his last four games. Temple will wait to be fed at the arc a good amount, but, he won’t always settle for shots. He’ll try to great off the dribble and drive the lane to draw contact. He hit multiple three-pointers in three of his last five games. The Grizzlies lack mid-court depth and Temple’s defense allows him to have security in the Grizzlies rotation. Temple will shoot around eight to nine shots per game. Expect him to continue providing consistent scoring and steals.

Patrick Beverley G LAC-20% Ownership: Beverley might be more of a watch player, but he continues to stick in the Clippers rotation. Expect him to play in the mid-20’s in most games and he’ll be used as more of a PG now that Lou Williams has returned to the court. Beverley has scored in double figures in two of his last three games. Beverley has shown that he will fight for boards. He’s grabbed at least four in four of his last five games. He also blocked shots in two of those games. Beverley’s aggressive play sometimes hinders him on offense, but his hustle and ability to facilitate in an up-tempo fashion has allowed him to stand out. Beverley has also grabbed steals in two of his last four games. When he’s in the game with Lou Williams , he’ll sometimes serve as a bailout shooter. He’s hit two three-pointers in four of his last five games. His numbers are trending up.

Rodions Kurucs F BKN-4% Ownership: Kurucs is another player who hustles on both sides of the ball on the court. He’s been blocking shots from right outside the paint. He’s swatted away shots in his last three games. He’s also stolen the ball in his last two. What’s improved about Kurucs is how much more open he’s been getting in the lane. He’s been calling for the ball more and has scored in double figures in four of his last six games. Kurucs is quicker than DeMarre Carroll and he can hit deeper shots than Rondae Hollis-Jefferson . He’s been a big reason for the Nets recent overall success. He’s played over 20 minutes in four of his last six games. His numbers continue to trend up and he should see some regularity playing in the early to mid-20’s in most of his games moving forward. He’s also been helping out a bit more on the glass grabbing at least four boards in three of his last five games.

WILDCARD PICK UP: Matthew Dellavedova G CLE-7% Ownership: Since joining the Cavs, Dellavedova has been chipping away at their rotation to earn more minutes and he should be able to play 20 minutes per game consistently moving forward. Dellavedova hasn’t changed much since leaving Cleveland. He’s still very aggressive on both sides of the ball and he fights hard through screens. He’s scored in double figures in five of his last six games and hit multiple three-pointers in four of those games. He’s been getting time to facilitate the Cavs offense and he dished at least four dimes in his last four games. Expect him to record more steals as the season continues and he’ll provide minor help in grabbing long boards. Expect consistent scoring around 10 points per game and he’ll get playing time at both guard spots.
