Week five of the fantasy football season started the same way as the previous two weeks did, with an impactful injury during Thursday Night Football and now Russell Wilson will miss at least the next few games with injured Fingers. JuJu Smith-Schuster’s season is over with a badly injured Shoulder and the Giants injury woes continued as well as Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones and Kenny Golladay hurt themselves and had to exit their game versus the Cowboys. The Bills also banged up the Chiefs and Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be shelved for the Chiefs next few match ups with an injured Knee according to reports. Week five had its high points as well, especially on the scoring front as the Chargers and Browns scored 89 points combined and Justin Herbert threw 4 touchdown passes (2 To Mike Williams) and rushed in 1. Tom Brady threw for 411 yards with 5 touchdown passes. Derrick Henry rushed for at least 130 yards in 3 of his last 4 games and he scored 3 times versus the Jaguars. Robert Woods investors were jumping for joy after a 12-reception game, as were the Kyle Pitts investors from across the pond as he roasted the Jets for 9 catches and a score. Here is the latest fantasy football stock watch report.

RISERS

Kareem Hunt, RB CLE: Hunt’s been given double digit carries in all but one game this season and he’s rushing for 5.4 yards per carry. He’s run in five scores and only Derrick Henry has scored more times than him on the ground. While he’s listed as a running back, Hunt has a 14.5 percent team-leading target share as well for the Browns and has more catches than any other player on the team. There’s not too much of a difference in how much Nick Chubb and Hunt are in the game and clearly Hunt is more than just a handcuff as he has an established role in multiple areas. In PPR leagues, Hunt has been the sixth most productive running back in 2021..

Leonard Fournette, RB TB: We all know that Tom Brady loves to throw, but Leonard Fournette has certainly been able to carve out more of a role for himself over the last few weeks and Ronald Jones has become a complete afterthought.  Fournette has been running the ball well and he’s been given double-digit carries in three of his last four games and ran for no less than 4.6 yards per carry in those games.  The Eagles have been horrible at stopping the run this year as they let up 142 yards per game and this bodes well for Fournette once again getting carries in double figures.

Dawson Knox, TE BUF: The touchdown leader among Tight Ends is currently Dawson Knox with five. He’s caught a touchdown in all but one game and has the Titans up next who let up 26 points per game and are bottom 12 in the league when it comes to passing yards allowed per game. After being given 27 percent of the targets in week 4, Knox received 15 percent of the target share and we saw Josh Allen distribute them a little bit more evenly in week 5 between Knox and the Bills main receivers Stefon Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders.  Only 11 players in the league have more redzone targets than Knox.

FALLERS

Allen Robinson, WR CHI: It’s shocking that Darnell Mooney has grabbed more receptions than Allen Robinson and even targets as well this early in the season. The Bears are going to let Justin Fields start at QB moving forward and thus far Fields has completed just 51.4 percent of his throws. The Bears are putting up the third fewest amount of points per game in the NFL. They also have 566 passing yards total through 5 games. Robinson has scored just one touchdown this season and he’s hit double figures in PPR leagues in which touchdown receptions are worth six points. After being targeted 11 times alone in the first week of the season, Robinson has been targeted 18 times total in the four games since.

Trey Sermon, RB SF: The wrong Trey was running the football on Sunday against the Dolphins as Trey Lance ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards against the Cardinals and Trey Sermon ran the ball just once. The return of Elijah Mitchell was very telling because Mitchell played 68 percent of the 49ers offensive snaps while Sermon played just 3 percent of the snaps. Remember, Sermon was inactive for the first game of the year. As the 49ers head to their bye, Sermon investors have to be stunned after he had his most successful game on the ground in week four, but it shows that Mitchell is clearly prioritized. Will the 49ers continue rolling with Lance even when Jimmy Garoppolo is healthy? Probably not, but I still had to throw it out there.

Jonnu Smith, TE NE: Smith is getting out-played and out-produced by Hunter Henry. Smith has caught just 15 passes and one score this season. Henry has caught 20 passes and has played in more snaps on average than Smith. Henry has played an average of 71 percent of the Patriots offensive snaps while Smith registers at 55.5 percent on average. Henry is clearly the top TE on the depth chart at this point and it has become way too dangerous to start despite Mac Jones being top 10 in pass attempts. He’s just not getting in the end zone and if Henry wasn’t there he would have more appeal because he has been targeted a good amount in the redzone.
